Rivendell just took my breath away when I first saw it. I think it's quite accurate to the books. I especially love the waterfalls, and all the leaves that were falling when Frodo first wakes up in Rivendell after being stabbed by the Nazgul...
Altogether, a very beautiful place. :-D

I was born in Rivendell. And lived there until i was four, at which Gandalf had me sent to Australia, where i still am, though i am no elf, nor akin to men, i am istari, and hear i will remain, until Gandalf will call me home...oh how i long for the land of my birth!

The concept and construction of Rivendell was really beautiful, and they didn't even show us all of it. There were some areas of the garden that didn't show up in the theatrical or Extended scenes. There's an archway and more views of the garden that I saw in some early early pictures. They may be in the concept areas of the DVDs, but I'm not sure. There were some interesting statues, too. I need to prowl through the Fellowship Extended additional material and see if there's some stills of those.

Because they are the ones who attack Rivendell. Are not they?? I do not know just trying to be funny :D. Rivendell is a perfect place for an every men but so desperate place for living in it for me at least. It might be because I love men more than the elves.

Really? I never knew that...
I think they did a beautiful job with Rivendell. They gave it a sort of "other worldly" quality. I like how they also had random elves walking around on a distant platform in the background during dialouge and other scenes. That little touch made it so much more realistic.

^ i agree. i lt's the little things that make the biggest difference. i love rivendell, i wanted to live there for the longest time when i heard about it when i was little, then i found out it only existed in the minds of those who read the books and i was sad that it wasn't a real place. :'(
