Which part in the movies did you like better or worse from the books?

I'm not sure. They changed a lotta things... I'm glad that made Legolas look and play a much more exciting role... in the Books he's rather dull and not "really there"

Alatariel

Wasn't sure exactly what to vote, but I personally like him better in the books. He actually sings, and I just like him a little bit better.

I like Legolas better in the books because.. I don't know, he just is so cool then in the movies.

Personally, I prefer him in the movies. The stuff he does is so cool that you gotta love him. In the book he was good but movies really boosted my opinion of Legolas!

i like Legolas better in the movies because he has alot of action and he does, HirilAlatariel, seem like he's more there instead of in the books, but it wouldv'e been cool to see him speak more elvish and maybe a song or two! :) but i love legolas. he's my second fav character.

I preferred him in the books. Whilst Orlando Bloom looks good Legolas was so much brighter and light hearted in the books. He sung and was a little more hyper. And I quote 'ai ai a balrog' :-D Why didn't they leave that in the movie?

I am afraid I am going to have to disaggre with you HirilAltarielin on that. I think in the book he is much more involved and aware, not to mention funnier, then in the movies. In the movie he is kind of the background watchdog only ever talking to either point out the obvious, make a stupid mistake, or, more seriously, warn the Fellowship of danger. Where in the book he offers help and counsul and an opinion rather then to quote Orlando himself just be "Senseing something"

That was pretty much what I wanted to say. In the movie, I thought that Legolas should've spoken or do something more besides warning or sensing some dangers out there. He was occasionally funny in the movies but didn't have much to say. But I still thought he was a great Elf :-D

Couldn't have said it better myself. :)

I'm actually surprised some people prefer him in the movies. Yeah, granted, he's handsome and yes, you "See" him more, but really, you don't "See" anyone in the book, it's all in print and in your head. Ha ha, bad joke  In the books, he strikes me as more intelligent and feasable, really. In the movie he's mostly there to make observations which at least I'd already picked up on, to make cool action moves and yes, in that way, he stands out--can you imagine Tolkien saying a character surfs down stairs as Legolas does in TTT, or climibing up on a moving Oliphant? But in the book, there is more to Legolas, his observations are keener, even. I suppose it's like Sam. In the books, there's more to Sam;he's not just a bumbling oaf as he is in the movie version of FotR.

Well, I don't agree with that.

I think, like someone said before my-i'm too lazy to look-that in the book Legolas is just not there. I mean sometimes he is nonexistant and completely forgotten. He doesn't have any personality characters. (I still like the books a lot, so don't harp on me about that.)

However, in the movie, he is more real and life-like. You can actually get into his character. Yay! He has a personality too! Some may argue that he doesn't say anything except obvious statements (frankly I never noticed that) ...darn, I lost my train of thought.

Oh yeah...let me think. I've got it! Legolas is sort of a character that lets his actions speak for himself. I like him that way, too. Though I can't deny he is good-looking. Ahh! *beats my head with a websters unabridged dictonary* That's not the point!

Okay, I'll shut up now.
*yawn* I'm bored.
