True. I think I might have done the same thing in PJ's place, despite the fact that I think the books are correct. Arwen is much more valuble to the plot than Glorfindel. You can't clutter up a movie with unnecessary characters, it costs more and confuses people more.
But I do like Glorfindel in that part better:)

Yay! Someone else who shares my viewpoint! Hah, Eä--Arwen doesn't get all the votes.

Arwen's still cool... But in the movie she seemed..a little..bit.."woe is me I miss Aragorn." boo-hoo, cry me a river. She does cry and mope through like the whole trilogy. (the movies at least.)
BUT. that is just my view point. even my sister agrees...who..hates Arwen..

^True though... I sort of expected her tae be a bit tougher than that... and I still am mad that she took our Glorfindel's place

.....she is okay. She's not cool (at least not in FotR), but she's still okay. She's better than Elrond, for example.

Yes, she's better than Elrond. Elrond, in the movies, is kind of an annoying character--he was portrayed as being too stern and selfish.

Selfish, as in, he wants Arwen to go to Valinor with him rather than stay with Aragorn.

Oh yeah...that. I never accounted that as selfish, but, I suppose it does seem..."selfish" of him.

But selfish for a semi-good reason - I mean, Arwen is his only daughter, and Eru knows what happened to the twins.
Anyhow - I think in the books I immediately liked them both (Glorfindel and Arwen), so I don't know. I'm leaning toward picking Arwen. (I still like Glorfy a lot though)

Well, yeah, he was selfish in a semi-good way, but I think PJ went a little overboard with it--I never pictured him as that selfish and possessive.
And just fyi, Elladan and Elrohir stayed behind, too, though we don't know for how long.

I'm kind of a hardcore book-lover, so I think it should have been Glorfindel. But I liked it being Arwen in a way, because it gave a woman a bit of power, which is my biggest complaint with Tolkien.

Well, you do realise that women didna care for their rights until the 1800s right? And LotR was set in the Medieval era (approx), so even Galadriel having her bit of power was a bit odd. Eowyn's part was more accurate.
