Post subject:  Useful Scenes?

Well, I don't know if this has ever been discussed before, but I was just thinking...of all the scenes in the FOTR, including the Extended Edition...what do you think would be a scene (doesn't have to be from the book or anywhere else) that would have been helpful/fun/cool to see in the movie? And no, I don't just mean that little part in the book that you think should have been added. Use your imagination. What little scene would you have wanted to add?

For example: I think it would have been very, very cool if Legolas and Frodo had had a small conversation during the movie. Maybe (like my little sister said) Frodo would trip or something and Legolas would help him up. Even something as small as that, just to show that Legolas is actually there to help Frodo, you know? Anyone else have any ideas for useful scenes?

Oh, I love threads like this! :-D Let me think...oh yes, one of the things I would have loved to see would be, like, Boromir and Gimli talking or something. Just a little more interaction between the characters, if you know what I mean. Even Boromir and Legolas! Haha! Can you imagine? Though at least Boromir screamed for Legolas' help during that Watcher in the Water part...that was kinda' nice. But, yeah, like I said, some more Fellowship interaction would have been really cool. :-D

And by the way Yaviel, I most certainly do agree with you. Even if Frodo had, like, slipped again while they were climbing up Caradhras and Merry or Pippin helped him...just a little something to show they're not quite so useless. Although they did have several strong points, like throwing rocks at the troll in Moria, and then jumping on its head later. :-D

yup i agree that there should be more conversation between the Fellowship members. i mean, we see lotsa combination - Frodo-Sam, Legolas-Gimli, Aragorn-Legolas, Aragorn-Gandalf, Merry-Pippin, Boromir-Aragorn... but there could be so many more ... i would personally love Frodo-Gimli chat. i'd roll off laughing...

Another usefull scene, would be Gimli and legolas speaking. You know about the war between the elves and dwarves. Well I think legolas and gimli should have a small serous conversation. But thats just my opion.

I agree Yaviel. Although they did have some good pointers that elves and dwarves really don't get along, to actually see them have a conversation would be very interesting.

A thing I personally would have liked to see would be Sam talking to Legolas, because Sam is so fascinated by the elves. I think he'd be really curious about what Legolas does and everything, so even if they talked in the House of Elrond sometime...I don't know. But yeah, I do agree that a bit more Fellowship interaction would have been really nice.

I also think it would have been nice (not that the movie version didn't do really well) to see the actual process of picking out the Fellowship members, giving reasons behind each choice and such, and seeing Elrond and Gandalf talk it all out...I dunno. I think that would have been one of my favorite parts though. :)

I like this question..hmmm...I think a useful scene would actually be saying the hobbit's ages. I mean, they never actually really pointed out how old they are (besides Bilbo.)

That's a very good point AngelBaggins. :bounce: I think it would have been interesting to hear ALL of their ages! Like to have Pippin offhandedly ask Legolas how old he is, and Legolas answers with a smile "2,931". Or Gimli telling Gandalf HIS age after a slightly testy remark, or Gandalf telling his age to Boromir to let him know that he is the authority...you get the picture. :-D

And how about a little conversation between Legolas and HALDIR in Lothlorien? Wouldn't THAT be interesting! :-D It'd be funny to see them both discussing archery skills and "dealings with dwarves". ;)

Oh yes I agree. The way it is it seems like if you want to be in the fellowship then your in. There was no reasoning behind it.

I also like the idea that Melphie gave about Frodo tripping and Legolas helping him up. More interaction between the fellowship, that isn't limited to the little mini groups (merry/pippin, aragorn/gandalf, frodo/sam and so on)

I think they should have added Elladan and Elrohir they say nothing at all about them. Or at the end of the ROTK book where the Fellowship is waiting for Galadreil and Elrond but instead they put them there emideitly!
