Post subject:  Confession...
The first time I saw FotR me and my sister found it boring and I did not understand the craze at all. How ignorant I was then! Then I saw TTT and it was "Oh yeah, this is what I'm talking about." I think that FotR is more enjoyable when your a book fan, as I am now :) TTT had the big battle which made it entertaining.


So, did anyone else have this experience when they saw FotR? Or do you think I'm crazy?

I was about 5 or 6 when I saw it (I'm 11 now) so I didn't know what the heck was going on :blink:

I can't say I felt that way haha. I was completely in love with it the first time I saw it. Then again, I had also already read the books, and I do agree with that. It's much more enjoyable once you've read the books. ^^

I was 12 when i saw the movies. but i'd read all the books when i was 10. And i was thankful that i knew what was going on.
And i agree with Dimenel, the books help explain the movies and make them more enjoyable if you read them first.

Haha well I was 11 when I saw FotR for the first time, and I was clueless :P

^Ah, yes people agree with me! That's always good. Actually now FotR is my favorite out of the three because after reading the books I know that it was the most true to the book :)

Actually, I had read the FotR before the movie so I understood pretty much everything, and I enjoyed it a lot. :)

I have to agree. I also saw the movie prior to reading the book, so it was all new to me. I didn't wake up and listen until TTT was released, either. FotR was a nice, quaint film, but I have to say I never expected to become such a huge fan of the story itself, based on that movie alone.

That's a very interesting observation, Beriadanwen. I know that I went into FotR as a book fan, so my problem was to stop talking about how excited I was about FotR, to both praise it to death and criticize it like crazy.

So, did it move too slowly for you, and not have enough action? I suppose it is the slowest-moving of the movies, but it had to be to work up steam so-to-speak.

The book is a must have and a must read! The movie is allright, and the Extended Cuts tried to fix some errors but still, the complexity of the books was heavy to bring to the screen. I know that both PJ, Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens confessed that they had to torture out the Two Towers, they didnt like it but they had to becouse then the movie would prolly be 5 or 6 hours long.... there was some sense in all that. Go through the Apendices of the DVD's and you will get a clearer message.

i saw the movies before i read the books.i watched the FOTR and thought it was,well ok....... but when i watched TT i was like :bounce: yea!!

It was exactly the same thing for me !!!! I first watched FOTR because my brother forced me to and didn't like it THAT much. Then I saw TTT et that's when I really started to be crazy about these movies (and then about the books). The lesson is to listen to your brother :)

It was exactly that, it was working up steam to start the story of the ringbearer.

I'm trying to remember the cut off of the first movie and I can't, they all seem to blend into one now! :teehee: It's after Boromir dies and Frodo and Sam are standing looking out towards Mordor, right? Thinking about it now it was an entertaining movie. The Nazgul, Lothlorien, the Balrog, and Boromir's death which was very sad :(

I'm so lost right now. What was the cutoff of the second movie? :blink: Oh right, end of the battle of Helm's Deep and Faramir letting Frodo, Sam and Gollum leave. I've got it now, I fear I haven't seen the movies enough :hide:
