yes!! all the cute( well some of them a.k.a. pippin and merry) were singing the song, and all of the old country folks are just THERE sipping their beer, oh that was a good scene!

I read the book before the movie (only just before it, I was 3/4 of the way through FotR when the movie came out) It was a really big coincidence seeing as when I was about half-way through I saw the trailers on TV and was jumping for joy. I actually still think FotR is my favorite movie. There's something about the Shire at the beginning which I love.

I read the book a whole year before I saw the movies for the first time, and 6 months before I started reading it, my older sister read it aloud. So from the time I was 12 I was used to the story and was a huge fan of the books and then I saw the movies. I'm more of a book fan, and the movies don't start out with all that much action, but they still aren't boring, I think.

i didn't think it was boring, but my dad told me the ringwraiths were orcs and i didn't get the plot. ok, well, i was in third grade, but still. oh yeah and there was this kid who was in my class and he looked like frodo so i was really creeped out by that.

Yeah, I was seven when FotR came out (I think) so when I saw it I wasn't all the interested.

me too! i did not like it at all first time i saw it. then TTT, when i saw it, that was it. from that day I love everythig related to LOTR :D

I was 12 when I watched FotR and had no clue about Tolkien but all the same liked the movie a lot. (though I found the second one clearly better...at that time) Anyways I consider the age of six way too young to fully understand LotR. I guess I also wouldn´t have liked FotR at this age.

I was about 12 when I saw the movies. My sister and I both had read the books, so we were really looking forward to seeing it. Even though, this happened a few years after it had come out. I remember understanding what was going on, and trying to explain it to my mom and little brother. :P

i love the movies from the 1st time i saw FOTR. i hadn't read the books but i had read the hobbit and my mom was like "well its the story after the hobbit"

i do have to say that i wanted to see FOTR when it came out but no matter what my mom was like" your going to see this movie". but im glad she did b/c looking now, if i would have missed these movies i probably would hate myself.

So, did anyone else have this experience when they saw FotR? Or do you think I'm crazy?


That's exactly how I was the first time I saw FOTR.

We rented it just before Christmas, and I thought it was good but I didn't think too much of it. Then in the New Year, we bought the theatrical version on DVD and I was like.... whoah.... and then when I saw the TTT (which I must admit I was a bit bored by as I'd never seen such a long film in the cinema) I really liked them, but when I saw the EE FOTR.... :jawdrop: ... that was what REALLY did it.

The innocence of FOTR is what draws me to it. It will always been my favorite. I love the scenes with all four hobbits together, and they sadly stop and do not return until the end end of ROTK, and then leave again. :(

I can't get enough of the hobbits.. they are soo cute... and adorable.. and just pure. The whole Prancing Pony scene is <3 for me. And, of course, the Shire I practically die for. I have seen that scene 500+ times, at least.

I haven't read the book before and I was scared as hell! I had to close my eyes everytime "The Eye" appeared, or when Gollum was tortuned, or when the orcs appeared in the Mines of Moria...I couldn't really concentrate on it, because half of the time I was looking away. I was trembling and almost crying at the end of the movie out of fear...I've had nightmares after the movie, from "The Eye" appearing in my room in the darkness and when we watched FotR in class, I skipped the lessons, claiming I had to go to the doctor, because I was so scared...so...this movie didn't do any good to me...I was a total wretch after watching this.

^Oh no! The Lord of the Rings should never cause that much pain! *I'm sad*
My dad made me leave in the scene when the Balrog showed up because he thought it would give me nightmares. But I sneaked around behind him after I left and watched it and couldn't understand what was so terrifying about it.
