No, I don't think so. I think it was just like a giant shock wave or something that knocked them all over. If you watch, you can see a couple of the warriors in the background moving.

Well, if you think about it this way, if Isildur was right next to Sauron, and Elrond just a little ways off, how would they have survived if the entire rest of the army was destroyed? Yeah, it was just a shock wave, like what happened in the Return of the King movie. |

More Gil-Galad and more Elendil would have been nice. Movie/Book discrepancy: When Gandalf reads the scoll of Isildur in the movie, it reads 3434 SA, in the Tale of Years in the book it says that Sauron was defeated in 3441 SA. |

I definately do not think the soldiers died after the shockwave went through them. As Aerandir said, Isildur survived it, and he was right there. However, I'm sure that they were knocked out, and probably emerged rather dazed for a while before they realized they'd won the fight (at least for the time!). |

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think 3434 possibly was when they laid seige to Mordor, and 3441 is when Sauron was actually defeated. |

Yes, the elven armor in the battle of the last alience was some of the most interesting in the whole movie. I wonder whether the Numenorians (Isildur, etc) also wore Elven armor? Because I suspect it would have "magical" qualities, so-to-speak, which might have helped protect them from that blast. If you look at the force of wind created when Sauron imploded...woah! That was strong! |

Yeah i was a bit dissapointed that there was less gil galad. and also a good book for finding out about the weps and armour is LOTR weapons and warefare. it says there that the elvish armour represented the spring time of the elves, when they were at their peak. |
