i think that it is okay to cry becouse that is such a beautiful part. i personally did not cry during that scene. i cryed in TRotK after they destry the ring and sam is saying how he would have married Rosie Cotton. that was just so sad. :(

I'm like that as well. I never used to be as I am known to be hard hearted when it comes to watching supposedly *sad* films. But after LOTR I get upset so easily sometimes it's stpid. There are loads of parts in FOTR that get me upset, sometimes it's even just the music.

I agree with you Haerion. You are just like Eärlinde Elensar and many of the rest of us. Crying is a interesting thing. There are so many stages from that feeling in your chest to eyes tearing up to tears streaming to outright sobbing. It seems to me like it all announces the coming of the same emotion, just at different intensities. But it is all crying and it all means you are emotionally moved. Some of us do fight it more I think or perhaps have other "good" reasons not to lose control at the particular moment. It certainly can be embarassing to cry in some settings.

Well I don't cry in the movie. I don't really cry that much... But there's nothing wrong with it. So I voted the first option, cuz it isn't dumb to.^^

No you're not!!! My favorite "emotional" scene / quote is this...
"I asked her for one hair on her golden head...she gave me three".
I also cry when I listen to "Into the west", and think about a friend I lost to cancer...23 years ago.
Do be afraid to show some emotions..it's healthy.

I cried like so many times.
I cried a lot when Sam got on the boat at the end.
You can just NOT get a better friend than that.

I cry all the time, not only in FOTR, but in all of the movies, especially the Mount Doom scenes in ROTK.
It's not unusual at all to cry. LOTR is one of those stories that gets in close to your heart and stirs up what emotions it finds there. It touches you in a very special way. You come to love the characters closely, so naturally, as they hurt, you hurt, as they struggle, you struggle with them. At least that's how it is for me.
In fact, these are the only movies that, after watching them, I feel more exhausted than when I began.

Nope. Those scenes are so dramatic and heart breakings...so touching. I can understand perfectly!

I'm just like you. It gets worse everytime I see it. I even started getting upset when Bilbo is apologizing to Frodo in Rivendell. And then when Gandalf dies and everyone else is upset, and when Boromir is sorry for trying to take the ring, and when Merry and Pippin try to defend a dying Boromir, and when Boromir asks Aragorn to forgive him, and when Sam tells Frodo he's going alone with him.... :'( Beautiful films.
