Wow, I just read through this entire thread and I feel as if I have come back from the quest for the Ring. Wooh. As for the tag-board issue, I have been using Cbox for the past several years on my websites and I am very satisfied with their service. It is quite customizable and each post can be up to 200 characters for the free version. I have also never had problems with spam, even though there isn't a particular spam guard offered. I just checked my CP though and they do have anti-spam protection such as captcha so I think Cbox is an excellent option. Who is on the coding team? I would be interested in helping. Would this include CSS and everything? I think all of the effort you all have been putting in is amazing and I believe that visitors will be able to feel what an active community A-U is.

I feel like I looked into Cbox as an option for the tag and found something that wasn't ideal about it, but I totally forget what that was and am certainly willing to implement the code to the site if you want to set it up. Orrrrr you can get in touch with the coders and ask them to do it since they have access I am quite willing to change the poll. All I need is exactly what you want the new question and poll options to be and I'll get it done. (We'd discussed possible polls recently, but we never got down to specifics...) And Nicole, congrats for getting through the whole thread - I'm impressed. Now try reading all the rest of them! But we're making a ton of progress, so it's pretty great.

^ Lol, good point. 'Tis the coders we need.
Well hopefully the cbox will be something very easy to set up and get sorted between the coders. It's not a really high priority job, but I think it will be beneficial to have done asap.
The poll:
Who are you looking forward to seeing back again? Which new character are you looking forward to seeing? Will you watch The Hobbit in 3D or 2D or both? What do you think of the choice for Bilbo?
That's all I can think of for now.

^Those are really good questions. When I read the first I thought "this one for sure", but then I thought that about all of them

I think all of them sound good, too Discuss among yourselves which one you like most and come up with the poll options?

I'm liking these two questions the most. I'm too braindead to think of any right now, but these two stood out!

I was having a great comment and wanted to post but then all of a sudden my space bar stopped working.. it was just blocked... I suspect someone had pressed some kind of evil button of doom - ON MY KEYBOARD!!! Anyway, it works again so throwing-computer-out-of-the-window cancelled. All great and bright questions... I couldn't choose based on just awesomeness as they're all very inspired so I thought maybe we can use them all at some point so we can change the poll regularly and don't have to bother with coming up with new questions any time soon if we're still pathetically uninspired (well, obviously not you, Gimli, but people like... me. ) So I thought maybe there's some clever chronology we could look at, like having the Bilbo question up first because he's been confirmed for a long time and then later the actors/characters questions and the 3D or 2D question because it is more relevant for .. well later. So.. something like this... What do you think of the choice for Bilbo? Who are you looking forward to seeing back again? Which new character are you looking forward to seeing? Will you watch The Hobbit in 3D or 2D or both? But I really wouldn't mind seeing any of them up, so decide away y'all. Also, loving the idea of having the Cbox back as soon as we can... It would definitely attract new people and perhaps get some from the old tagger crowd back too. Would you try to play around with it, Nicole? I remember you mentioning in your thread that you'd like to help out.. No pressure or anything..

How would anyone like to be the Keeper of the Poll? I just installed a new copy of the poll software, so I can give someone the login, they can tweak the question/options to their heart's content, and I can update the index page to include the new poll rather than the horridly outdated old one. No coding knowledge required Any takers?

I'll do it, as long as it's really simple

Instead of getting rid of the featured site, could we change it? Oh, and would the guestbook need to be changed? The layout, I mean. And if we want to change the host of that, Bravenet guestbooks can be really customizable and they can be altered more to fit the new layout of the site. And would the Vanyara awards be renewed anytime soon? Because I had a friend who (unknowingly) signed up while they were defunct.

I just updated the poll, now we're just waiting for Arwen to change it on the main site Since we (that is, JF) weren't entirely sure about whether the Bilbo question was any good, I decided to go with the old cast returning question, and I added 5 options. Who that is, you'll have to wait and see Like I said to Arwen, I'm thinking a 2-3 week span for each poll is good. This way a lot of people will see it, but hopefully they won't become impatient for a new one that soon What do you guys think?

Sorry I've been scarce recently guys, we're hitting my finals week so I've just kind of been :stunned: for the past two weeks.
JF - I love the Hobbit gallery! Ah! Where did you get those pictures? It's so awesome!
I'd looked at Cbox as well, when we were talking about fixing the tag. I didn't know how good at spam blocking it was, but I guess it doesn't hurt to give it a trial since we can take it down easily. I have coding access if someone wants to put a tag together, I could put it up.
I think a 2-3 week span for the poll sounds good. And agreed, I think the Bilbo question is a little old by now.

I think 2-3 week span sound fine as well. It will be interesting to see how many votes we get for the first poll and then how many for the second etc.
Also, I mentioned removing the featured site for now, as no one is probably going to be looking for a new featured site, and I just really want AU to look like it is becoming alive again - which when the poll happens, it should help a lot.
Thanks Nurr. Some of them are actually of a tour you can do do of Hobbiton, which is why most of them are iun stages as it looks like they were letting people see what was going on. I now have some good future sources for photos.
