Johnny's Fan wrote: Because while I agree, if we had the header we could just change what we have now, to what we want colours wise etc, I'm still not convinced that taking the road of re-doing AU's coding which is already taking time, is worth it if we take even longer. AU hasn't blown up with the coding it has now, so...... yeah that's about it really.
Thank you Gim, this is exactly what I have been thinking the entire time but somehow I haven't said it yet.

Quote: Do we think we can set the forum default to green now? I know we said to wait until kinks were worked out/people had their say, but I think it's been long enough. It's default now You guys can still manually change the layout back to black blue if you want via the UCP, but I temporarily deactivated then reactivated the blue skin so it would force a skin change for guests, bots, inactive members, etc. Quote: ^I'll poke Arweb about it. Thank you Ea It's so sad that facebook tends to be the best way to get in touch with me. Sigh. Quote: The type of coding changes Tel and Elberethsq were talking about is beyond my knoweldge. If it was up to me, I'd just be doing a simple CSS switch, since we don't need all the tables and things Arweb was using. If we the larger community wants to see change, I can do that. As I don't know where Tel and Elbereth went to, I don't know how soon the other stuff would get done. I'm all for the coding that Tel and Elb were talking about, since it would make updating a lot easier for a team in the future. However, I understand that where we keep running into snags with the Revival is when group decisions are needed and some of the key group members have disappeared or no one can reach a consensus. Yes, my CSS tables are probably quite poorly coded and should be overhauled, I'd be the first to admit that But if we can get the header sorted (how are we working that, anyway? Is Nicole still in charge of doing the navbar text? What's our status?), then I see NO REASON to have to change ANY coding, whether it be the massive conversion-to-WordPress or basic CSS modifications, before implementing the new header and colors. Seriously - it should take next to no time to get it set up, and at least then the casual visitor will see that things are happening. The casual visitor is not going to be looking at the source code.

Okay, I'm double-posting and bumping this because....the revival keeps sputtering to a halt, and it's getting frustrating for everyone. Nicole appears to have gone missing for a few weeks, so if it's okay with everyone, I'd like to take over the navbar text myself, going with the basic woodsy look but with a more legible font. Eru, it's been a while, but would you still consider yourself in charge of the main A-U.com text? Did we ever come to any decisions about what people did or didn't like? As to the coding changes, frankly I say screw it. Let's try to get the new layout up this week. Coding can come later if it ever happens, which currently seems a little doubtful

Agreed. I'd like to do things with the coding, but it can be done with whatever layout is up. I'd just like to see something.

I suppose I'm still in charge of the A-U.com text. This was the last version I posted a month ago, but Anameleth was the only one who gave feedback on it:

I like it. I know there was mention about the "dottedness" of it, but I personally don't have a problem with that.

I like it as well! I'm still a bit of a stickler for anti-dottedness, but if everyone else is fine with it, I am too As for the navbar, I spent a bit of time and did this: Maybe? Then I remembered a comment about the layout as a whole not seeming as "glowy" as previous layouts, so I added a very subtle blending glow: And then I thought I'd add a tiny bit of color to Eru's text other than green: *waits for feedback*

The links look great! I like the glow, because it also helps unify the whole image and makes Arwen's hair less of a huge dark mass. Both font colors look good - I think the second one is lighter, which is probably a good thing. It stands out more.

I like the third one... I just personally don't like the glow on this specific header, it hurts my eyes.

I'm not sure whether I like the 2nd or 3rd best. I'm leaning towards the 2nd, though.

*facepalm* Okay, tallying, so far I get: Glow: 2 votes Non-glow: 3 votes Colored text: 1 vote Non-colored text: 4 votes So by a small margin, we would go with...no glow and regular text? Unless anyone else wants to weigh in... P.S. Re the glow, I think it really depends on your monitor. The glow looked great on the monitor on which I designed it, and then when I switched to my laptop, it looked kind of washed out and I much preferred the original. But on the first monitor, the original looked a little dark and contrasty. So...pick your poison >.<

Just go ahead with no glow and regular text I think we've learned from our mistakes that waiting for everyone to give their opinion, means nothing gets done
