Agreed. I do love how this looks.

Do we really NEED Belfalas (The Actor's Movies) though? Why can't we discuss all movies in Mirrormere? It certainly seems like the most obvious and less confusing option. Because where do you draw the line, really? If a LotR actor had only a few minutes on screen, would that be a LotR actor's film or not?

I vote for moving all the threads to Mirrormere and get rid of that sub-forum all together.

People might just want to discuss National Treasure and not swoon over Sean Bean. For example.

Oh and Arweb, since we have a Hobbit movie forum, shouldn't there be a Hobbit book forum?

^ I agree with that.

I think as there is a place to discuss movies we don't really need another forum to discuss a very limited number of movies.

I third the opinion. :P personally, I like things to look rather neat, so the less subforums there are, the better. Condensing them is a good idea.
I also think it's a good idea that there should be a thread for the Hobbit book, considering we have one for the movie, which isn't even finished yet.

Oops...I knew I had missed something! Don't worry, it wasn't that I vetoed the Hobbit book discussion board - I just forgot to create it. All good now. Although now there's a moderating job to sort through the misc. book discussions for Hobbit stuff and move it over, huzzahhhhh :teehee:

I totally agree about Belfalas not being necessary. However, I didn't want to toss all the threads completely, nor did I want to toss them in Mirrormere when I'm sure that would create a ton of duplicate threads. So it's just a temporary board until we do sort out what can go. Unless you think it would be simpler to get rid of all the threads...?

maybe you could just archive the old ones and start new ones for necessary topics?

Wow, just noticed the reorganisation today (slow much?)- Thanks Mods & Arweb for doing such a great job.

Don't know if this is entirely relevant to board re-vamp, but there seems to be loads of game and follow on threads in The Misty Mountains/Completely Misc LotR that aren't really related to LotR- Would these be better in House of Bombadil/Miscellaneous Randomness?

Archiving might be an option... In fact, we should probably have a more general discussion (though probably not here, sorry ) on what to do with old and ancient topics.. at some point.. Whether they should be locked.. or moved to the Archive section, or simply just stay put because they will be pushed down by newer threads eventually.

EDIT: Thanks Lembas, actually, the Revival-active members have done most of the organisation and Arweb made the changes. :-)

EDIT again: I'd like to have the entire sub-forums in Elrond's Library section made 'hidden' - if possible. Especially now that you dumped the Sig and avvie board there too.. and if we're dumping another board (LotR-actors' movies).. it just ends up taking a lot of room..

Post subject:  Re: Forum organisation revisited

We do indeed have to decide what to do with old threads and how we're planning on working the archives. Just to make sure there are no outcries, I think this should certainly be a member decision and NOT an administrative one. Although as Ea said, we should probably make a new thread to discuss this...

@Ea, the Sig/Avvie board is actually only visible to mods/admins right now. I didn't think it was necessary to keep it visible to everyone, but if everyone would prefer, I could switch it to a visible locked subforum of the Thread Archive board.

I don't think we need to 'dump' the Actors Movies sub-forum to Elrond's Library.

The somewhat active and well-visited threads from that section can be moved straight to Mirrormere and the rest can either be deleted or moved to the Thread Archive sub-forum.

No need to keep the entire sub-forum, if you know what I mean.

^I like that idea. :-) It's just that we would have a lot of the same threads.. wouldn't we? And many of the actors would also be discussed in clubs in the Clubs board?? For the sake of tidying up it's not doing much methinks.. :teehee:

By the way, I started a topic on what to archive and what to lock/delete in the currently very unloved and deserted Dwimorberg board. Do visit.. I'll make some tea and cookies for visitors. :P
