Well I checked The Hobbit out today from the library. I have it for 21 days. I can so read it by then. Definately sooner. I'm very excited. I will probably have many questions. I tend to someone who questions everything. So hopefully someone will be willing to guide me through this :)

I just finished the first chapter. I really do like it. It has kept my attention so far. I love that. Usually if I can get through the first chapter I have no problem getting through the rest.

The Hobbit really is an amazing book. It's the only book in the LotR series, that kept my interest. In Fellowship of the Ring, I barely made it as far as when the hobbits got to Bree.

Hope you enjoy it! :D

Just a correction. It's not in the LotR series, and basically LotR's one book. It was meant to be but it just couldn't get published that way. The Hobbit is a totally different story and the two books are connected because of the fact that Bilbo found the One Ring, Bilbo is Frodo's cousin, and that they're in Middle Earth (there might be more, but whatevaaa).

Just saying...

Aralas, I know. I've seen the movies like 30 times each. They're still a series, because they're not published as one book.

But, we're getting off topic here.

Reading this thread has actually made me want to add The Hobbit to my current 'to read' list. (Even though there's like ten books in that list already!)

I have to say I've only read the first two chapters so far (loving it by the way). I've been reading it with my 2 year old son. He surprisingly sits there and listens though I doubt he understands anything about dwarves and hobbits. I think he like the sound of second breakfast though!

I'm very excited for you! And reading it out loud is one of the best ways to read it, in my opinion! My father and I read it out loud to each other when I was 5 and that's how I learned how to read! (at least, read things more complicated than the simple picture books at school!)
Remember, it was written to be a bedtime story for Tolkien's sons.

:bounce:

and everyone loves the sound of second breakfast. Really.

... a slight hijack/re-vitalization of this thread....
When I was told about The Hobbit' by a neighbor in 1975, I was interested based on his simple description that Hobbits "like good food, beer, and pipeweed". Coming in from the Asimov Foundation and Frank Herbert's Due, it was quite a change. Enjoyed my read through this book, and I immediately rolled into the Lord of the Rings. It is strange that except for this first reading, I have never been able to read through The Hobbit since. I've re-read Lord of the Rings many times, but can't seem to re-read The Hobbit again. It just doesn't keep my interest. I enjoyed it and remember it from that first read 42 years ago.

Granted, I have not re-read TH nearly as often as LoTR. But I have four versions of TH against three of LoTR. Paperback and hardcover versions in English. But a three-part hardcover comic (a bit compressed) in German (a translation), and a 2012 German (updated) version of Douglas A. Anderson's 1988 "Annotated Hobbit" (revised English edition 2002). That 2012 German version got me on the track of some Christina Scull and Wayne G. Hammond books ...

I haven't read the Hobbit yet. I am a late LOTR fan.

It was published as a children's book in 1937. But I find it worth a read.

Hi guys. To be honest, I've been a fan of comics for a very long time. but as time went on, I realized that comics also have a huge power not only as entertainment, but also it is excellent for the educational process and most importantly for business. I want to share with everyone one of the unique solutions like the comic creator on the popular storyboard template site here https://www.storyboardthat.com/comic-maker. This is really a fantastic offer for creative people who want to be successful, so I advise everyone to try the free trial version of the program.

Thanks for suggestion! I work with amazing woocommerce rentals themes for my car store website. They have great and huge catalog for different tastes.
