Do you guys think there was another way of introducing Arwen? Without y'know cutting Glorfindel, etc.

Ummm . . . well, they probably replaced him with her to bring her into the movie with a positive light - so that the audience would cheer for her . . . and the way they introduced her in the books wasn't as exciting and as conspicuous as Peter Jackson probably wanted it to be.

Well, they could of had Arwen at the Council of Elrond, but that definantly would have caused a civil war between Ringers. Or they could of had a scene or two with the feast with Elrond and the other important people. Arwen was there in the books so you could kind of meet her there.

Well what Elberethsq said made sense --- bring in a heroic light to her...but I think they could've introduce her by helping with Frodo's healing.

I totally agree with Kitoky. There are actually a million other ways that Arwen could have been introduced without cutting Glorfindel out of the picture. Not to pick on her or anything! But I think it would have been very awesome if she had been introduced through helping with Frodo's healing. And the first time you would see her would be when, you know, that bright white light is floating around in Frodo's vision, and he sees Elrond saying "come back to the light". He could have seen her as well, maybe echoing her father's words as Elrond spoke them or something. (wow, that would really sound cool! )

Count me in!!!! That would be so much fun, even if maniacle laughter is involved. Mwahahaha! And again, it is totally nothing against Arwen! Her entrance was all right in the film, but different stuff could have been done with that, I think...you just need to be a little creative.

I must confess that I was actually a fan of Arwen's Elvish chanting at the Bruinen. U.U

Oh, so am I!! Liv Tyler really did do that well, and it does sound really cool. THAT I will not deny. I like to chant it myself whenever I'm losing my temper or want to pretend like I'm cursing someone actually.

Lol Kitoky!! Well, if that's what actually happens, then it works! And I'll stick with it. It is a pretty cool thing to chant, after all...

Post Edited: Arwen the Webmaster has said to no longer argue about Arwen in this particular thread. Anything that implies argument or bashing of Arwen will be erased. Thank you.

Of course, we don't know that Elrond and Gandalf actually made the wave -- Arwen just did the performance, that's all!

I love that moment when she holds up the sword and challenges the ringwraiths - they just have no idea what's coming!
The chant that she uses sounds fabulous - particularly when the words start melding into one another.

Yeah Kitoky, that is very true...I was actually thinking about that a little while ago. Maybe she would just chanting the chant, and then Elrond and Gandalf heard it from afar, (maybe it was a cue or something) and then they did the rest? But then again, they really did make it look like she was the one that brought it up, because when you look at the words she says (in English), it really sounds like she's summoning up the waters, not calling for help. I dunno...

That would have been very cool, and I think that would still give her a kind of heroic light-helping Frodo and everything, ya know....
