I was very disappointed that there was no Prince Imrahil in the movie. When i was reading the book, i was really looking forward to seeing him and i could ont believe it when he was not shown at all.

What does everyone think of this?

Personally I hated ROTK, because it went so far away from the books. The best scenes were missed out (Scouring Of The Shire, Grey Company arriving at Pelennor), and were replaced with bits that absolutely disgusted me (WK breaking Gandalfs staff, AOTD, Gothmog)

If you watch the extended edition of RotK than some scenes were added in. The witch King breaks Gandalf's staff, Saruman is stabbed by Grima on top of Orthanc in one of the first scenes and Gothmog fights Eowyn and is in it a lot.

Question: What was with "Gothmog"? That's the name of a Balrog lord or something in the Silmarillion! Why did they have to call a stupid Uruk-hai Gothmog?

But anyway, I think they did a really great job on RotK. They couldn't introduce Imrahil, there are already a lot of characters and the movie is already like four hours long! I don't think they could have possibly added anything else.

Gothmog was mentioned once in the whole of ROTK. Imrahil was mentioned many times, and was actually an important character. God knows why PJ gave Gothmog such a big part. If I was making it I wouldn't even include him, as his race is very debateable and as such no Tolkien fan would add him (same with the Balrogs wings and the "Eye" of Sauron). PJ just interpreted the whole text wrong, and added in way too many of his own opinions.

I think you're being way too hard on PJ. So he interpreted some of it in a bit of a skewed way in your opinion, didn't he do a lot of other things amazingly well? He screenwrote a classic novel, which would have been extremely difficult to do, he cast the right actors, he gave the plot continuity without it being confusing...All hail PJ!

I believe you might be mistaking him for Iorlas, the guy with the long blonde hair.

PJ did a failry good job and he did better than what most people would have done, but i don't think he really read the books and understood them enough. Overall he did an ok job but as Zimoo said, he interpreted the movie his own way and minor people in the story were given much larger roles.

What guy w/ the long blonde hair?

If you watch the chapter "The Last Debate" in the Return of the Kings Extended Edition with the Director's commentary, they explain why they couldn't put him in there. PJ says they should have cast Arnold Schwarzenegger for him. :)
