Post subject: Why is Legolas so humble?
PostPosted: January 29th, 2006, 8:00 pm

My personal thought on that is he is humble is because although one day he would become king of Mirkwood (which might be why he and Aragorn connected so well, because they're both heirs to thrones) and humility is needed to be a good leader.

It's a good question. I think it's not in the elven nature to be pretentious. The Elves are very aware of the "power of nature", they know that they are nothing compared to it... Anyway that's what I think... :)

Hmmm...I guess I never really noticed him being humble. I too think it may have something to do with him inheriting the throne. Even though he never actually did become king of Mirkwood, which he did not know at the time, he might have felt that he needed to act humbly as a king should.

probably so, would've been nice if he did actually become king ,to see how he'd do things . interesting...

Thanks for all the thoughts! And I think it's so true that it's the elven nature and tendency to be humble. Had he become king of Mirkwood, he and Gondor could have had a powerful alliance, which would have been pretty cool. And even as a prince, humility is essential.

i think that he is so humble because that's the way that elves are. It's the same with Arwen and Haldir. Only he's quieter.

You're all right. It is the elven nature to be humble. And I think it rubbed off on Aragorn (growing up with the elves and all). And I like Haldir too. And he is incredibly quiet, isn't he?
P.S: Nice pic, arwen_evenstar (lol) :-)

Hey wait! At last Legolas was not the king of Mirkwood, but the Elven king of Ithilien and lived with Faramir and Eowyn!

From the very first time I saw the movies I loved Legolas and the way he was cast. In the books and in the movie he is a humble and faithful support to everyone and in everything he does. The world desparately needs more characters like him!
