I need to know what Frodo was thinking when Gwaihir (spelling?) picked him up in his talons. Frodo's head leans back and I've always wondered about what was going trough his head. What do you think??

He might think:"Oh, well, my journey is not over now."
Or he might think :"Are these Manwe's Eagles who bring our souls to Mandos' House?"

It's hard to figure his feelings out in this particular sequence.

According to the book (just looked it up, cause this topic made me wonder...): "like in a dream, not knowing what fate had befallen them". So my guess is they passed out or something like that.

Yeah, I think Frodo was in a daze, not really thinking about, or more like realizing what was going on.

I guess he would have been too dazed to really think about it, thanks for your ideas.

yeah...if he was thinking at all, it might have been...

"I think I'm dead...I can see everything...I'm having an out-of-body experience...I'm dead..."

I've always thought Frodo was drifting off into a daze, out of consciousness, barely aware that he's rescued, simply overwhelmed. Perhaps he even imagined he was dying.

he was probably borderline unconscious, so his thoughts would have been hardly logical

Somthing along the lines of
"Meh. Silly birds. What? Look at all the orange. Lala!" (delirious Frodo)

I bet he was in a dazed condition because of the lack of food, exhaustion (I mean how much sleep was he able to get? :P), the loss of blood (He lost a lot of blood when Gollum bit his finger!) and heat stroke (volcanos are hot :P) Anyways, I bet he was bordering in unconciousness....

yeah. it didn't look like he was very concious.

What if he was fully aware of what was going on and thought: "Ahh sod it, ive done all of the work now they can worry about me for a while longer!" but seriously he probably thought he was a gonner. :explode:

"The pain and horror depart into the wind as the sound fills my ears
A great thrum, a pulsing... is it wings? Or is it the beating of my heart?
My eyes close, darkness closing in like the tide
Perhaps I'll wake in a place where all fears fade
And all is surrounded by love and security.
A place of majesty, beauty, and good,
Where all evils depart...
The wind is blowing...."

I think he was about losing his conciousness and I don't think he thought anything logical at the moment I think he didn't realize that he was saved by an eagle at that moment...

He was probably just relieved that the Ring was finally gone, that his burden was finally gone.

It seems to me he was sort of in a dream, and wondering what was happening, but he was realizing not only was the Ring gone, but all the fire and darkness and eminent death-horror of his surroundings, as well, although i'm not sure he knew yet that he wasn't going to die. It's hard for me to put into words, though, but I think he was feeling pretty...relieved.
