I personally love the way Thranduil sounds but that might be too extreaml for everyday use. Perhaps as a middle name? :-D

Arwen is a real name I'm thinking of the second time I go to court will be to change my name (you know after the insaity plead, witch has been put off far to long). I doubt there would be supprised.

Well, your question really made me smile, for my parents are really LOTR obsessed and named me Arwen (in rl). But that's not always fun, for most ppl who don't know the name think its a boy's... So chose a name that is clear to everyone!

*giggles* They think you're a boy, Arwen.... how sad is that.... and it's really... er... interesting that your parents named you Arwen.
I imagine how odd it must be at times but now after you're older and apparently has come to like LotR, it must be cool then!
*slightly envious*

Yes, honestly, that's my name.It was so horrible! My parents and I went to watch LOTR at the cinema and my mom always called me Arwen as usual and I got the feeling that everyone else was thinking ...well...strange things  I was 11 at that time.... But it's okay :) Actually I like the name.

I think you're lucky, in a way...you have an excuse for your friends to call you LotR nicknames. :P

LOL! Yeah, maybe. Now that I think about it it's quite nice to have a LOTR name. Most of the time. ;)

Yes, they're both very beautiful, but I fear ppl who don't know Tolkien (those poor ppl!) would propably still pronounce it wrong :( (eg the "r") Actually all LOTR names are pretty cool!

Arwen and Lorien are actual names so they'd work. Lauriel.

Arwen, I'm glad you came to like LOTR! It would sorta suck if you didn't :P

If I ever have kids, I'd give them Elvish names (not sure if Sindarin or Quenya yet). But one name I have always loved is Eleniel, and the best part is that the kid can shorten it to 'Elen' if they want a 'normal' name.

But other names I like are Elanor, Melian, and Ariel (which means the same thing as Arwen: noble maiden). Of course Ariel is pronounced differently than the normal name Ariel, and Elanor would have to be spelled like that :P

The thing you have to be careful of with the name Lúthien is the nickname - kids can be cruel - Loo!! :-o Although the nickname Lúth would probably be ok.
And Lorien could also become Lorry :duh: . Just gotta be careful with names like that  .
