I've been using GIMP for some years actually now, but I never really bothered to get anywhere with it. I've figured out what i needed to know (like taking cool fonts and making them into cross stitch patterns.) and left the rest alone, but I'd love to get... somewhere else than stuck at level one. Can I join?

Hey! I just saw this, and I've had GIMP for a month or two now, and I hardly know how to do anything!!! I added one font, but can't figure out how to do it again, and you're farther ahead of me, Rat_and_the_Raven, because I didn't even know you could do that! I'm a complete newbie, so I hope you guys are patient! I made a suggestion earlier yesterday in the suggestion forum: add LotR gimp brushes to A-U as well as Paint Shop Pro (which I don't have). I don't know if you're interested in backing me up there, but if you are, great! Thanks! Oh! I hope you don't mind my joining the club!

Hi! Great to have you here. In order to add fonts to GIMP all you have to do is add it to your computer and they will automatically show up in GIMP. When you download the font onto your computer, it will come up as a .zip file. Click to "extract all" and then when it brings you to the font file, just right click and there should be an option to put it onto your computer, like "install" or something. Anyways, once the font file is in your computer's list of fonts files, it will already be in GIMP when you bring it up next. Hope that made some sense.

Hey! Okay! Thanks! I just found out about an hour ago how to install fonts onto the computer itself! I'll have to check gimp to see if it worked! Thanks!!!

Adding to what Erucinide said, the font won't just be in Gimp but everywhere that uses fonts on your computer, like Paint (generic Windows program), any kind of word program, MSN. So... have fun with that!

Okay! Thanks! Fonts are a ton of fun!
So, what shall we discuss about GIMP? Should we take it in levels, then just post what we've done?

Sorry for the double post, but do you know how to make an animated image with GIMP? I just found out! If you want to know, just tell me!

Hee hee hee! Alright! I love moving things!!! So, here's the instructions as best as I can describe it: 1) Make different layers of whatever you want. 2) make sure they're all the same size. 3) When you go to save it, do this (name).gif 4) A box will show up asking if you want to flatten the image or save it as an animation. Save it as an animation. Then, in the drop down box below. Save it to the last one (can't remember what it says, but i know it's the last one...) 5) Then, you'll have to fool around with the speed, but I think the higher the number, the slower it goes. Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure... 6) Hit "save" and then you can right click on it, >>filters >>animations >>playback And that's about it. I don't know why, but before you save it, you should push >>filters >>animations >>optimize for gif then do steps 3, 4, 5 & 6. Hope that helps! If not, let me know and I'll try to find the site I found it off of, or try to explain it better.

Right! Homework! Make a GIF and post it for the world to see! (In my version the last option is "One frame per layer") http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a187/ ... tReal1.gifI tried to imbed the picture but something's going terribly wrong with photobucket... (Not sure if anyone knows Repo: The Genetic Opera)
