I'm no wizard, and I doubt that I would be if I were in Middle Earth... so I think I'd have a better chance facing off with Shelob.
If you were one of the first Elves at the beginning of ME, would you go to Valinor or stay in Middle Earth?

Probably elvish, since broken elvish is better than no elvish at all You want to cross the Misty Mountains and don't know anything about either Caradhras or Moria; would you chose to cross Caradhras or go through Moria?

Moria - Gandalf would have already taken care of the Balrog, and I'd do my best to avoid any orcs that were still there.
