Other than on here, do you have any LOTR fan friends?? What kind of nerdy stuff do you do with them?

Erm, well... I know this girl from school. She has seen all the movies but is a slow reader, so until I convinced her to about a month ago she didn't plan to read the books. she is now part-way through the hobbit. She is very into all sorts of lotr fandom stuff and she thinks that she wants to learn to speak elvish. We e-mail each other lotr jokes and ( more recently, sites about learning to speak elvish). She can do this super funny smeagol voice, and she will do it in class when the teacher is not looking so that I have to try to contain my fit of giggles until he has turned the other way again. We quote stuff back and forth to each other as we walk down the hallway. Stuff like that. Plot to build a model of bag end under the hill in my backyard. I think this is very nearly my longest post ever...

My best friend very recently became a LOTR nerd last summer, and she finished the books a few weeks ago. We RP and write fanfics together.

I had a LotR fan friend about ten years ago, and it was awesome. I mean, we're still friends and still massive fans, but we don't live in the same town anymore and we've kind of evolved into being adult friends, meaning we know we love each other but we only talk a few times per year. Back then it was insane though and we'd sometimes nearly get into fights over LotR mostly because we were massive dorks.

We like to play LOTR based games and are always stealing each others names! One of my friends can speak Elvish very fluently and it is FUN to have Elvish conversations on the phone with her!!!!!!!

Me and my friend used to, in school, just be the kind of people who wrote LotR quotes ont he walls and tables. Got us into trouble quite a lot, but hey, we were rebels back then. Ah, to be 14 again.

Writing in Elvish, Oh! It is sooo fun! It is sooo easy too! My friend and I write back and forth in Elvish, partially to avoid certain letters from being intercepted by siblings!

One of my best friends is also my LotR fan friend. We've seen the Hobbit three times in the theatre together, and we also try to have an annual LotR EE marathon. This summer we're going to see our 10th marathon, so we're already looking for new LotR inspired recipes to snack on To add to the geeky-ness: last marathon we gathered all works of Tolkien in our possession, to look up characters and answer questions that arose during watching the movies. Especially the Sil and the Tolkien vocabulary turned out to be very helpful.

I'd do anything (I'm exaggerating, of course!) to speak Elvish fluently. I'd love to do that. Especially with a best friend who's a fellow LotR nerd and fan, which I currently don't have. Sadly.

I had a period when I wanted to learn Elvish, but then I realized that it's not really good for anything except for fun so it'd do me better in the long run to learn another language that I can actually use.

Especially with a best friend who's a fellow LotR nerd and fan, which I currently don't have. Sadly. I can try to teach you if you want. I have the Elvish letters, but they are confusing in the appendices of ROTK so...
