Yes, Erin. That is good logic. If you don't use it you loose it. I have gone through that before. The piece you are working on sounds neat.

Poetry, for me, is a lot of fun. If you come up with some pieces maybe you could share some.

Sure Aranel! I have added yoir name to the members list. Glad to have you! Hope this helps you get your muse back. :)

Thanks for adding me.

So, I've lost my muse to write. I am a roleplayer on Facebook, with my own character and a group that I write with. But lately I have lost my inspiration to write. My group wonders why I haven't written in awhile. I really want to, but I'm lost on finding good roleplay starters. I've tried Google on searching for example paragraph roleplay starters but very few help with what I need. I don't want to leave the group though or not play with my character.

Please help. :lost:

Hm... Well, what type of setting is it? Time frame, world, technology level etc... What are some of the old stories you have done? Just so we can have an idea of the style and feel.

This is NOT my poem but it has inspired me non the less and I wanted to share with all of you.

Thinking by Walter D Wintle

If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win, but think you can't
It's almost a cinch you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you've lost,
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will;
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are:
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the one who thinks he can.

It's loosely based of the Tremor Family from the movie Smokin Aces. We are country folk, in modern times South Lake Tahoe in CA.

My character is a female in a family who have to stay on their family land, due to some problems going on in town. She lives in a family of assassins but who only go after bad guys. Yet not able to leave their land creates a problem.

It's hard because want to have some adventure, but not sure how.

I hope this helped some more.

You RPG on facebook, Aranel? Oh, wow. That takes me back. I used to roleplay all the time with someone. Right up until they turned into a deranged attention seeking psycho.

When ever that person got off on destroying my creativity, I used to write a one shot of my own characters. Something that excluded all the other person's characters completely. Where they did go off on a little adventure of their own.

Or the problem could be you are in a rut with the character you have. Keep them, but add another into the mix. Having someone new to get to know might just give you the pick me up you need.

I do have a suggestion, to fix your problem; how about, some bad guys come to the land hoping to take out all the assassin family. One big fight to really shake things up. Lots of action and excitement.

Yes, I do. Aw, that's awful. I'm really sorry to hear that. :(

I usually go off on my own adventures but I need to be interacting with the others more. My girl needs more depth to her, which also is causing problems. I don't know her as well as I should. So to speak.

Well be having a group activity like that pretty soon. After we rescue one of our members that's been kidnapped.

So, just trying to keep myself busy until the time comes.

 It is okay now. Two years have past, since I have had to put up with her. She was one of those toxic people who makes live miserable for herself, and drags everyone down with her. Turned out to be a good thing really. My writing has drastically improved since we parted ways. Getting her out my life gave me just what I needed, to really work on my novel, which now became two.

Ah, then maybe writing a few little drabbles to explore her better. (Drabbles meaning small pieces of writing exactly 100 words long.) Focus on one trait. Once you know her completely, it will become easier.

If you need help interacting with characters, I could help you. In PM form, or something. Say she goes off on adventure on her own. I will make a character, were they meet and interact. Like a collaberative one shot. That way it is seperate from the RPG, but you're not writing it all on your own.

I'm glad that you are free from the that toxic person. Someday, I'd love to read your novels. :D

That is a good idea. I can do that whenever I'm on a computer next.

I'd appreciate any help I can get.

I feel like I'm letting the family I'm a part of down.

Sounds like a neat setting. I don't know what vien this might be in but my mind goes tonfinding something on their land significan. Maybe something as simple as burried treasure, maybe a bistoric item with valuable links tonthe past, maybe something crazy like an underground government base or an underground cave hideout. Maybe the animals go mad and start attacking people kn sight and she has tondigure out why?

*shrugs*

But I much agree with Erin that focusing on some character traits might be helpful. It does help ablot to know your characters well.

You are quite good at rpg Aranel. Look at the "who post last thread" we made it interesting in our humorous banter. Always look for depth of your characters. A character that can be serious/comical/romantic/adventurous are the best because they can do it all. You have to explore. I'm not into it nor have never done any rpg before, but who knows down the line I may.

If I could give advice, which I'm not sure it would be helpful is to look at your favorite characters from all your fandoms. Take a trait from each one and then add that dynamic with another trait from another character then just watch your character grow.

I hope this helps.

Thank you all for the advice. I have found some ideas that may help me get started again.

It's going to be a long, rough road but I'm going to try.

Can you guys make sure I keep at it?

Sure thing Aranel! You could always gove us updates on your character's adventures. It would be kind of fun to read snippets. If you feel so inclined. :)

I did write this recently. (Back story is that the Tremors are paid hit men and women. They only go after the bad people. Horrible criminals.)

[This is from the point of view of one such criminal.]

A loud clap of thunder rattles the nearby window, jolting you from your sleep. Your heart can't stop it's merciless pounding. It feels ready to leap out of your chest, at any given moment. You have to escape. You fight against the sheets imprisoning you. Finally they come loose. As your feet hit the floor, you feel cool air brush up against your neck. Something or someone is coming for you. You run into the woods, your feet sliding along the wet foliage. The feeling of being watched is unshakeable. Your head spins around to a loud crash behind you. Yet, to your relief, it is only a fallen branch. Maybe your fear was only in jest. Your shoulders release their tension, if only for a brief moment. Your head swivels back to gaze in front of you. And shock hits you straight in the chest. Just like a bullet ripping through you. Lightning flashes, brightening up the wooded area. Casting light on the figure in front of you. A figure with piercing blue eyes. You stand face to face with a Tremor. Who else could have eyes that see into your very soul. Eyes that speak of your death. And end to your reign of crimes. Deep in your heart, you know that you have always been watched. This is not the end you had hoped for. But in the eyes of a Tremor, it is a fitting end.
