I was recently (again) bemoaning the fact that they put so little of Beorn in the movie compared to the book. I loved the parts from the book with him in it!

Then I got to thinking, maybe there will be more of him in the extended version perhaps?

Does anyone know? Have they given us any idea of what scenes might be in the extended version?

There have been rumors going around that he will bear (no pun intended) Thorin's body back to Erebor, as he does in the books. I don't think those have been substantiated, but it's highly likely.

Awesome! I would love it if he did. I have always enjoyed his character and the book shows much more of him. I would love to see more of him in the extended version. :)

Seeing as how he got an extended scene in part two, I'd say that's possible.

:). That would be pretty cool. I have actually not even seen the extended version of any of them so it makes me happy to know there is more of him innpart two.

I am not going to buy them until they come out with a special box set with all the extended versions.

There was more Beorn in the extended of DoS, but his scenes honestly didn't make much sense in terms of the plot-line. They were scenes lifted straight from the book but unfortunately didn't fit with the story they were telling.
So, it was good to see more of Beorn, but at the same time it was a disappointment cause it didn't help with the actual movie or story or character development at all.

Hopefully he gets more justice in the BotFA EE. We'll see.

Ah, I guess that may be why they cut them from the original theatre cut. It's cool that there is more of hom but I do wish they would have stuck closer to the book. I loved the book character!

Hopefully, as you say, we will have better scenes in the next extended version.

There is no new footage at all of Beorn in the extended.

There is in DoS, but none in BotFA.

Well, at least there is that.

I still have not watched any of the extended versions. I want to wait until I can watch them all close together. Maybe if I get a 4 day weekend for the holiday or something. I don't know. *shrugs*

At least I will have a few more scenes in DoS to look forward to seeing him in. :) It atill would have been awasome seeing him fight in the BOFA

There are a few extra scenes of him fighting as the bear.

Yeah it's pretty cool! I am trying to remember if he was at the funeral for the fallen dwarves or not, it seems like he was in the background of one shot.

That would be neat too! :) I can't wait to see all the extended versions... No idea when Inwill be able to, though. I really liked Beorn in the books so I am glad he got a bit more screne time in the rxtended versions.

Yeah there's a few more scenes of Beorn fighting orcs & he appears at the funeral with Gandalf & Radaghast. The additional footage amounts to seconds really.

They explain his role was cut short in Bot5a because they ran out of time to complete the visual effects in his sequences before the Theatrical version was released.

Theres a lot of brilliant pre-vis shots of Beorn decimating the Orc army and basically winning the battle single handedly in the behind the scenes features though, which they chose to never complete. I'm guessing they chose not to include them because he would appear a too powerful character. As the cut stands he and the eagles arriving make it apparent the tide of the battle is turning to victory for the Elves, Dwarves & Men, but Thorin's battle with Azog isn't devalued.
