Why did Tinuviel have to give up her immortality to be ith Beren? I can see why Arwen would, because the time to go across the sea was coming, and she would have to be mortal to stay with Aragorn, but why Tinuviel? There was plenty of time for her to stay with Beren, and thn he would die, and then she could go across the sea to the pretty place. I'm confused

Yeah. But does she have to give it up? And would his death be any different than when old couples die? Well, I guess she would live a really long time. And Beren would get all old ang grey and she would still be young and pretty. But people who lose love ones learn to get on with life. But could you do that for eternity? Would it get better over the years? This is a fun internal debate I am having!

Well, I think Tinuviel couldn't bear to live without Beren. Old couples don't know when one of them's going to die. But Luthien knew that she would outlive Beren. I don't think she could live with herself knowing that.

I last read Silmarilion a while ago, and I don't remember correctly, but I think she had to give up her immortality for Beren to be brought back to life.
I think Elves can die if they choose, but their spirits go to Valinor. Where humans go after death is not known, but if Luthien wanted to be with Beren even after his death, she had to give up immortality and die as a human.
