I do not know if this is wrong. However, I was under the impression that Boromir was corrupted by not only ring or his father but the elven lady who could foresee the future partly. He was given a fear that he is not gonna make it. This is why I thought that he was dead. I understood that from his eyes and face that the fear has put into him.

elven lady = Galadriel ;)

and yes, i agree with you partly ... Galadriel had a big influence on him because she could see his future ... sort of like an oracle, and he was pretty intimidated by thata

I believe that Boromir is not bad, as you said before. I don't dislike him, he is one of the good guys! :) He was a strong character, very important for Frodo and Aragorn.
But I belive that Boromir was weak when he thought of the ring. It is said somwhere that Men are more easily to influence than other creatures, and teh ring has influenced him that much that he followed Frodo and scared him to death. It was not him, i think, but his own "Gollum" that was created by the ring.

I think that Boromir wasn't weak... it's shown very well in the EE of TTT when he doesn't want to go to Rivendell and fights for his brother. Of course his heart got sorrupted by the ring, but I think that it was mostly because his father had sent him and had told him to bring the ring back to him..

Yes, that's right, because I think that the ring and also his father's wish made him weak, as you said.

He was strong physically, on the outside and he was a good man, but give him power and he was corupt and weak.

Not necessarily power in general; Boromir was strong; however, he became corrupted by the Ring. Even Frodo could not stand up to its corruption when it realized that his intentions were to end it's existance.

I know... I think it was a good idea to let him go to his home country again.

I think it was sweet, coz technically, he did here the bells of the white city when he went down the river. But yeah, I think I posted this before, but I'm saying it again
Boromir was awesome. He was loyal, and understanding...when the ring hadn't taken him. Even though he was sort of...I dunnjo, stiff towards Aragorn at the beggining, he eventually over came it and recognised him as king. He was so strong, he put himself in danger many time for the wee hobbits.

I think Boromir is a really sad part of the tales. He is a good man, and only wants to serve his people, and see Gondor returned to it's former glory. But, as i said, he is human, and therefore easily corrupted by the ring. But what he does is still for what he feels is good. And he shows really bravery at his death.

Yes, he turns out to be one of the most loyal characters.

Yes he is the bravest but not the strongest. Since his family is corrupted by ring, I should not suprise at all. But he is still Boromir. I still say he has to have a real funeral as the bravest man and prince of Gondor. Am I not right???

Well, maybe not a funeral, seeing as it's a bit late for that, lol. Maybe a memorial garden in the whit city next to the white tree? Or something like that. They wouldn't have had time to have a funeral for him at the time though.

He wasn't weak, he was just human. He really was the only pure human to come in real contact with the ring, so he didn't have a natural (partial) resistance like the other races.
