Elenriel cried out in pain once again. “You’re doing fine, just a little bit more.” the midwife coaxed her. Finally, after what seemed like hours, a strong cry from the infant was heard in the room as the midwife wrapped the child in a blanket. Elenriel fell back against the bed, exhausted. “My son, how is he?” she whispered. “Beautiful, healthy and screaming for his mother.” she replied with a slight smile. Elenriel reached for her son as the midwife, drew near her with the child. She gently handed Elenriel the tiny blonde-haired, blue eyed baby. “My son.” she whispered as she cradled him close. “You look so much like your father.” “What will you name him?” the midwife asked. “Alyan. I hope Legolas approves.” Elenriel said gently, rocking the babe in her arms.

Suddenly a healer burst into the tent, smiling. “My lady, congratulations on the birth of your son.” “Thank you.” she replied smiling. “Have you any word of my husband?” With that the healer’s smile grew wider. “Allow me the pleasure of telling you that your husband is doing well. Thanks to Lord_Elros, he will make a full recovery.” Thank Eru! she cried, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks. She then looked down at her son, “You are going to meet your father soon, little one.” she said softly, her voice filled with joy. She then looked back at the healer. “When may I see him?” “As soon as you have rested a bit-I know he is anxious to see you as well.” Elenriel smiled at him, her eyes shining with gratitude. “What of Haldir, my niece? Have you any word on her?” “Nothing yet, my lady. But I shall inform you as soon as I find out.” Elenriel nodded. I pray she’ll be alright. she thought as she held her son closer to her.

He suddenly looked flustered. "Haldir hasnt woken up yet," he said tearily. "I'm so scared."

Elenriel laughed at Eve's comment. "I haven't thought that far yet..." she remarked with a sly smile. She then turned to Éowyn. "I'm sorry I haven't seen him. But perhaps he is with the other soldiers now." She then looked at seriously, her eyes shining with gratitude. "I have been told that it was your husband that was responsible for Legolas's recovery. I am in your debt, my lady. Thank you for everything." With that she turned toward Craig, her eyes sad. With her free hand, she gently took his hand in hers and squeezed it comfortingly. "I'm so sorry Craig. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help." With that she rose to her feet, holding her son close. "Now if you don't mind I would like to see my-" she stopped in mid-sentence as Legolas approached her.

"Beloved!" she exclaimed, racing into his arms. "Are you alright? Shouldn't you be resting?" she whispered. "I'm fine, my love. You worry far too much." Elenriel gave him a slight smile, before showing him their little bundle. "Legolas, meet Alyan, your son. I hope you don't mind I named him-if you want we could-" Legolas gently put a finger to her lips silencing her. "Alyan is the perfect name, for we are truly blessed." "Yes, we are." she said quietly. He gently wrapped his arms around her waist knowing that thoughts of the battle were weighing heavily on her. "Have you seen Lord_Elros? Éowyn is worried." "I know he was tending others after aiding me. I owe him much. I hope a time will come when I can repay my debt." Elenriel smiled slightly at this, but it quickly faded as she thought of her niece. "Haldir is still unconscious. I'm afraid for her, my love." she said softly as the they returned to the rest of the family.
