Luthien cried out as a huge orc lunged toward her. At the last moment, an arrow flew through the air and landed deep within its flesh. Luth whipped around and saw Elegost watching her, his bow empty. She smiled and took his hand, allowing him help her up the hill towards the horses. Luth suddenly realized how very grateful she was that Elegost was there for her.

Haldir groaned. "What idiots," he moaned, watching them from a distance. "They should be running for their lives and leave the killing to us ... we have horses and they are on foot." He quickly notched an arrow and shot at an Orc that was directly behind Luthien.

Miriel led her horse downwards the steep slope in the direction of the trio that desperately tried to run yet also escape from the Orcs which pursued them. Finally she reached them. "Lothwen! Here, " Miriel reached with her hand to help Lothwen swiftly to climb on Felarah .

Haldir immediately grabbed Elegost and swung him up in front of him on Asfaloth. He attempted to whistle for more horses anyway, so they could travel on properly for the Palantír. "Oh my goodness ... Luthien," he moaned, seeing she was the only one not on a horse. He desperately shot at the Orcs nearest her and tried to hold them off until the horses arrived.

Luth watched as the others mounted horses, finding herself somewhat alone and vulnerable. The number of orcs increased by the minute, and they would soon cut her off from the group. She grabbed a sword from a dead orc and began fighting for her life.

"We haven't long to wait," said Haldir to Miriel.

Lothwen stared around her. Suddenly, she noticed Luthien was still standing, looking around at everyone else. "Luthien!" Lothwen cried. "Behind me!" Lothwen did not know if three people would fit on one horse, but it was the only hope they had.
