It would be interesting to see Silmarillion be done, not exactly in a movie [because not to be harsh or anything, would be IMPOSSIBLE]. A series would be a brilliant idea and maybe there would be a meeting and one person would come up one at a time and narrate a tale that was in the Silmarillion. I'd like to see Glorfindel!!!

Regardless of what we think, Christopher Tolkien hates the idea of Lord of the Rings being a movie. I'm not sure why because PJ did a brilliant job with it and has given the books a huge leap in publicity.

I think they should, Have the storie separated like trilogy but theres more then three. I would be amazing to make them come on screne. There so spiritual so it might be difficult. I just hope whoever (if) makes it does a good job and stays to tolkiens work not changing the way he wrote it. Though some impervisas would be ok.

A series would be perfect, since there is no way you can fit all of it into a movie. With a series they could take more time on individual stuff, and all of that. It would be great to see the Silmarillion done!!! :)

A series would be terrible, IMHO. At least for the average viewer. With all the lineages and stuff in the movie, people would be like, "Who's that again? How does he relate to this story? What's he doing there?" etc.

I think it's just too complex to put on TV. Besides, they risk messing up all of the coolest characters - Turgon, Finrod, Beren, Luthien (she's supposedly the most beautiful of all the Children of Iluvatar), Fingolfin, Feanor, all the Valar, Morgoth, etc. There's too much to lose, and not much to gain. If it was successful, I, like most other ME fans, would be thrilled, but I don't think the average viewer would have a clue as to what is going on.

I'm actually against of making Silmarillion into any kind of movie/series, what ever you want to call it. I think The Silmarillion is so "deep" in our imaginations that even PJ can't turn it into a film. I mean of course he can but it's kind of making a movie out of The Bible. People just can't do a movie out of The Bible :D

As much as I would love to see the Silmarillion on the big screen, I can see what you're saying too, Eliz. It just is soooo much, with so many complicated things and soooo many people, and covering such a vast amount of history. It would be very hard to capture it all in a series or a few movies. Not to mention, as many have mentioned before, the huge cost. It has so many different parts to it, that it is very much like what you said about the Bible.

It would be nice to see the Simarillion as a movie. Onlt certain parts would be able to succesfully become movie material though. Some stuff is just too deep. Beren and Luthien would be a good one. Maybe one about Feanor, or the Noldor. With the Noldor you could get action (Fighting orcs, all that stuff) heartstring tugging (kinslaying, Meadhros's imprisonment) hot guys (elves!)

I'm sure it'd be very hard but heck, the things they can do in movies are now are amazing! It'd be great to see the Sil on the big screen :)

I think that the Sil. wouldn't translate too well from book to movie. It would be really cool if they could make a movie if it though.

I think making a Silmarillion movie or series is not a good idea, because if you haven't read the book you won't understand anything and some characters or places are too difficult to put on screen

Yes, it would be very difficult to turn it into a series or movie and capture everything into it. I would LOVE for it to be made, it just would be really, really hard.
