"Well, of course we wouldn't stay in the open," said Meleth. "Though I don't particularly like that plan, all things considered. As an alternative, we have quite few excellent archers and these foothills will provide plenty of cover." She waved her hand vaguely toward the hills that rose as the mountains dwindled. "We could hide and pick them off as they come, depending on how big their company is. If it's a rather large one, that plan won't work either."

Midira asked " i could ride to that knoll there let them see me and i'll lead them on a wild goose chase?" she asked pointing to a knoll in the distance " you can head north and i'll lead them south or visa versa" Midira said. " but i will need a second horse for this to work"

Meleth shook her head. "We don't even have one horse, and who's to guarantee they wouldn't shoot you off, anyway? That's too dangerous. And besides, we shouldn't split up." Something seemed to occur to her and a cunning look stole into her eyes. "We could, of course, hide until they go past and return over the mountain pass. They're goblins, they'll never catch us."

"Or elfpower, as the case may be," said Meleth delicately. "I'm not entirely sure I like that idea, however." She sized up the pile of rocks. "If their comapny is too big it won't work. I suppose it's worth a try, though."

Midira came up next to the rock pile she found a suitable spot and waited for the others.

"Now that," said Meleth, "I agree with." She positioned herself right near the top of the pile with an old branch, ready to lever the rocks down onto the narrow trail. "Just say when."

Vasa had remained silent, their ideas were good and she couldn't think of another one.
"Rockslide it is then, Midira is right, we can't shoot in these winds." She stood next to a boulder and waited for the others to group round. "We'll have to be quick and our get away smooth."

Vasa waited and brung up the rear, the sun was getting higher which didn't do any them any favours. "Where are we heading? Where's our next cover?" Vasa called up to Elegost, drawing up beside him for a moment.

Vasa nodded and fell behind again, caves we're not really her thing but she had little choice. The land was hard and flat although rabbit warrens were dotted around everywhere and you had to keep yourself alert.

Caunaian listened to all of their ideas and thought them. They could work if only the conditions for them to work were perfect. But after the rockslide, he stood silently and waited for more orders.
