i didn't find it hard to read at all. First several times I read it in Croatian, but I like it more in English, because some of the names and poems in Croatian edition arenot so good as in original.

It was a little hard. It took a long time for me to get through the Council of Elrond.

I really had no problem reading it ( I still have not even if I read it so many times). I remember the first time I read it in 2 days because I was completely amazed.

No, I read both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings in less than a week.

I thought it was hard reading first time round, but I think this is because I wasn't use Tolkien's style of writing. But when I read it now it's a doddle! Maybe I was just impatient and wanted to read the end

Well, personally it was not difficult for me to read it, but you know, it depends on each one's preferences in literature. If you like this kinda literature, then you will definitely find it quite enjoyable, and not hard to understand

Actually, FOTR sucked me right in. I couldn't put it down. I became completely engrossed and fascinated by Tolkien's tale. I can see where it would be hard for some people though. Some chapters lag a little. But then, all books have their slow bits. I really loved FOTR.
