Larael had been silent the whole ride [she never had been a morning person], and had not been paying attention when the person in front of her stopped. Swiftly she pulled back on the reins to keep her horse from ramming into the one in front of her.
She patted the horses neck and looked up to see what the hold up was. Her mouth dropped open as she stared at the shimmering river before them. It was the River Bruinen, as beautiful and majestic as Tolkien had described it to be.
She couldn't believe she was actually there, standing right before it. The place where the Nazgul had been swept away by it's powerful current. She shivered, trying not to think about what would happen if she fell in.

Brego looked at the Ford of Bruinen. She looked around and picking up a center she drop back into a walk next to Darrell. "WOW, that's a really nice sight." She told darrell but keep the fear in the back of her voice.

Darrell nodded, "yeah, it is pretty impressive. And amazing that we actually get to see it". he kept moving down towards the waters edge, still checking for any sign of danger, but it all seemed clear.

[Well folks, I go on holiday tomorrow, so I won't be able to post. If you go far ahead of this point, just assume that I am still with you, tagging along. :D I'll be back (hopefully) next saturday. Maybe Sunday. See you all then :bye2: ]

"Now, how about getting across?" Asked Gwen, nudging Thalion towards the edge of the river. "Last time around we didn't have horses...or at least my party didn't."

[Have fun, Darrell :)]

Melda looked nervously at the water. "Are we just going to - swim?" she asked hesitantly. "I mean, with our horses?" Nudging Artemis closer, she looked down into the fast-flowing Bruinen.

Luthien let her horse drink from the swift current as she surveyed the situation. "How deep do you think it is, Gwen? I think the horses would be able to make it, if we aim for that bank over there." She pointed to a strip of land down the Bruinen that was clear of trees.

[Have fun on holiday Darrell!! :) ]

Larael stayed far back from the waters edge, as she could only think of the Nazgul being flooded away by the rivers strong current. But then again, that had been under the influence of some pretty powerful Elf magic...

Still, Larael looked doubtfully at it, and decided she would let the others make the decision.

Brego did't know what to do. It looked deep but it could be sallow in the middle. She thought looking down.

(Can I join? Here is how I got here)

underoath was playing a gig and then all of a sudden, he ended up in a small town tavern. He was standing on a stage, not knowing what happened. The customers yelled at him to start playing, but his instrument was centuries old! So they booted him out onto the street.

Underoath walked into a nearby stable, waited until it was clear, and took the closest horse. Riding out of the town, he didn't know what to do. Then he heard a river, and thinking his horse was thirsty, rde toward it.

When Underoath got there, he saw his sister with lots of other people on the other side. Underoath yelled to Luthien, "How did you get here? And who are your friends?"

Before Gwen could answer Luthien, she heard a male voice from behind her. Whirling around in the saddle, her eyes fell on someone on the back of a horse. Then suddenly it made sense.
"You're underoath, aren't you?" Gwen smiled. "Hey. We were just figuring out how to cross the river. I agree with you, Luthien. That looks like our best shot." Then she added, glancing again at underoath. "We can hear all about your story once we get aside."
Gwen urged her horse to the edge of the current before looking back. "I guess I'll just go first."
And with that, Thalion plunged into the river, Gwen grasping a handfull of mane and doing her best to stay balanced in the saddle to make his job easier.

Luthien looked at her brother in surprise. "Underoath? What on earth are you doing here? Nevermind, don't answer that. We're coming over." Luth nodded to Gwen, and urged Panache to follow Thalion into the rushing current. It swelled around his flanks until he was swimming, and Luth attempted to steer him towards the open bank.

At that moment, Gwen was feeling very thankful that Thalion was a tall and sturdy horse. Things were going better than she thought, but she was surprised when Thalion's legs began moving quicker; he was swimming. Gwen had never been swimming atop a horse before. But soon they made contact with land again, and Thalion was stumbling up to dry land.
"Good boy!" said Gwen breathlessly, leaning down and rubbing his soggy neck. "Good boy."

Melda carefully followed, urging Artemis slowly and hesitantly into the river. She gulped as the horse started to swim and squeezed her eyes shut, holding on so hard her knuckles were white.
Reaching the other side, she smiled weakly. "I...eh...can't swim."

"Well, it's a good thing your horse can!" Luthien teased, attempting to wring some of the water out of her clothing after the journey across. "No one would ever know you were a beginner." she added with a smile.

[It's no fun when hardly anyone is here :confuzzled:]

Gwen as well tried to release some of the extra weight the water had added to her clothing.
"And look at my saddle!" she said.
Slowly, the rest of the group made their way across the river. Gwen was relieved that no one had slipped off their horse and been swept down the current. She had the habit of always picturing wort case scenarios.
