Oooh, horror movies, lets see:
More recent ones:
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Johnny Depp is in that too, for you fangirls, although he like, dies horribly )*
Halloween
Friday the 13th
Final Destination
The Blair Witch Project
Night/Dawn/Day of the dead
And now the older classics:
Freaks
Dracula
Psycho
Frankenstein
Bride of Frankenstein
The Haunting
Yep, I've got a lot of watching to do.
*I wish we had an evil grin smiley.

ooh... The balir witch totally freaked me out the first time, but that was mostly the atmosphere that I was in that provided the utter creepyness to freak me out. Pitch black night, open windows with the curtains moving and trees making funny sounds and home alone....makes for an awesome enviroment to freak you out.
I loved 'House on Haunted Hill' when I first saw it, I'm not sure if it was a thriller or a horror though.
I think I've rented out pretty much every single horror movie that my local vidoe store has on its shelf...
....The thing is...I have this dreded *mind blank* thing at the moment.

I love horror, and I have different favorites for different genres:
Clever horror: Saw, the entire franchise (no, they're not just about gore, at all)
Supernatural horror: Stay Alive The Others Paranormal Activity, only the first and third Enter nowhere The Awakening
Comedic horror: Scream, all four of them, though the first and fourth are my favorites Sorority Row Severence Shaun of the Dead
Zombie horror: Dawn of the Dead Day of the Dead
Thriller horror: The Sixth Sense An American Haunting
Nordic horror: Trolljegeren (Troll Hunter, Norway) Midsommar (Midsummer, Denmark/Sweden) Fritt Vilt (Cold Prey, Norway)
Asian horror: Kuchisake Onna (Carved, Japan) Ringu (The Ring, Japan) The Grudge (Japan)
Action horror: Battle Royale (Japan)
And most likely a tonne more I can't think of atm.

Same here (though I've yet to see the Final Destination movies, the others I've seen. I just recently bought The Ring 2-Movie Collection on DVD. Since they didn't have the second one on Blu-ray, I had to opt for the DVD collection instead. Good thing Blu-ray players play everything). I practically grew up on the original Nightmare on Elm Street series. What started it all was watching the TV spinoff entitled Freddy's Nightmares, so of course, I had to see the movies they were based on. I've only seen the first seven (have yet to see Freddy vs Jason) as well as the documentary entitled: Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy. I watch the original Halloween movies (usually the original as well as four and five) every Halloween on AMC, when I spend the night at my mom's house to help her out with the trick or treaters (there was quite a bit more than there was last year). For some reason, The Exorcism of Emily Rose freaks me out more than the Exorcist movies (I've only seen the first two, which includes the version you've never seen and one of the prequels). Probably because of that three o'clock in the morning witching hour thing, since I'm up way past three in the morning. I also love Stephen King (naturally), but only own 1408 (that is one freaky hotel room). I've seen all the seasons of Under the Dome (still bummed it didn't get picked up for a fourth season, but that's television ratings for you) as well as It, part of the Tommyknockers, Carrie (including a TV movie), Pet Sematary, The Langoliers and Stand by Me (this one in grade school, but I'm not certain).

Since this is an upcoming holiday, you've got any suggestions? Me and my friend are going to dress up (as what, we have no idea) and just watch horror movies, have a drink or two (we're of legal age) and just have a nice night in. But we're a little lost as to what movies to watch.

I’ve heard, more likely read, about some of the (perhaps strictly speaking) horror movie franchises, though I have seen practically nothing. Just a vague feeling that they tend to be a tad formulaic – or plot-wise, seen one, seen ‘em all.
What I did enjoy are the “Scary Movie” spoofs, or at least parts 1-4, which I have on DVD (never watched them in the cinema). Not quite horror, or perhaps science fiction horror, is the “Alien” quadrilogy with Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley that I also have on DVD. Then the “Blade” trilogy starring Wesley Snipes that I also have on DVD.
Night of the Living Dead, George Romero’s 1968 C-movie classic. I couldn’t really take it seriously when I saw it around 1974, but for me the unintended comedy is what makes it memorable.
The 1930s classics (among the very first “talkie” movies) starring Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi et al …
And “An American Werewolf in London”, a 1981 horror comedy film (back in spoof territory to a degree).

I'm dressing up as Samara from the American Ring horror movie franchise (I wanted to do this last year, but opted for Claire from Jurassic World instead). Though I've read the first book, I've never seen the original Japanese versions. I'm usually at my Mom's place for Halloween, so that she doesn't have to constantly go back and forth answering the door. Since it's easier, I usually end up spending the night. I'm still unsure if I'll bother with the make-up (though Mom said she would help me with it), since according to Rings (which I saw for the 3rd time last night, after rebuying the whole trilogy on eBay, so I've been having a bit of a Ring marathon, so to speak), it's a long process. I had a bit of a scare putting away the Blu-ray, since a small bug flew out of my bookcase (time for a dusting), so some of the cast members are right, seeing similar everyday items that you saw on the videotape do sometimes make you stop and think (" ...you don't suppose... " as is written in the first book). As for movies, I just watch whatever horror movies are on AMC (usually some of the original Halloween movies, most often 1, 4 and 5), but I might bring over my copy of Rings (I bought the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, since the singular DVD doesn't contain any bonus features, whereas the Blu-ray does) to really get me in the mood this year (my parents have a VCR/DVD combo machine, and are probably the last people in my family to actually still have a VCR, though I'm not sure how much they actually use that part anymore).
