Haha, it wasn't just me I'm sure.
I don't think any historical person has actually influenced me, although I think Florence Nightingale was pretty neat.

Who was that? I haven't heard something about her before?

I really don't think I've been influenced by any historical person either... though a lot of lady characters in books and movies have affected me (for instance, Galadriel)

I don't really know much about historical women...I have to say I concentrate more on battles and places than people. I have learnt about Elizabeth I though, and there's been some pretty awesome TV programs about her. Florence Nightingale was a nurse in the Crimean War, if I remember correctly. She made hospital conditions much better...that's all I can recall at the moment

Florence Nightingale: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Nightingale
I think that'll explain better than I can.

She was a good person and that's all that I can say
Also, the Amelia girl who invented pants for women (lol, was she Amelia?) ftw - I wear jeans and trousers all the time, I practically forgot what a skirt is, haha

A certain poet has influenced, Edna St. Vincent Millay. I find her poetry absolutely awe-inspiring!

Hullo everybody...I trust you're all fine on this FREEZING COLD Autumn evening...I have just woken up from falling asleep on my keyboard again. Not a pleasant experience.
I don't think I've ever read really good poetry written by a woman. Saying that, I'm sure there's loads out there, but all my favourite poets are guys.

I'm on a writing forum, and all the best poets on there are guys too. Which is kind of strange. Probably my favorite poet is (you'll all be shocked ) Tolkien. He's incredible. I try to follow his example in my poetry to some degree.

I agree., I have male faves only. Except for Sapfo (?) a poetry girl from Ancient Greece- pretty good.
