Fans of Nightwish unite here!
Tell us your favourite band member, song, cover, photo, anything!
My friend introduced me to them and after listening to a few songs, fell completely in love. I went to their Melbourne concert in March, which was completely awesome. I adore Tarja, and find Tuomas' words breathaking. I love that he loves LOTR, and bases a few songs on it (ie. Elvenpath, Wishmaster...).
I love too many songs to name, but among ones I taught myself are Moondance, Ever Dream, and Nemo.
My friend is going to Finland later this year in a serious attempt to seduce Tuomas because she is infatuated with him.

They're cool! I don't know a whole lot about them, since I've only heard two songs, but I like Tarja's voice and their style. The two songs I've heard are Angels Fall First and Elvenpath, plus a bit of their rendition of The Phantom of the Opera, which I can't say I liked all that much But they're great nonetheless

A Nightwish thread, you know I was bumping this baby up to the main page. Nightwish are simply awesome. I went to see them live this year in Glasgow and they were just so $*@@!! good (sitting here in my tour shirt as I type)
Fave songs. The Kinslayer Bless the Child Passion and the Opera 10th Man Down Arrgghhh all of them.
Oh wait not all of them. I still can't get my head round there cover version of Over the Hills and Far Away. But one out of how many? No band is that perfect.

I looove Nightwish! They rock. Tarja's vocals are astounding...
The only song I didn't like was Over the Hills, as Raivynn said.
Other then that, everything rocks.

I think I have heard one or two songs, but I immediately thought that this band's cool!
front singer's got a beautiful voice. They're a lot better than Evanescence!

To each his or her own
I think it's cool that Elvenpath was very obviously based off LotR, though. I wish more bands did LotR songs!

HJAAARRR!!! My favourite band of all time! you can`t compare their songs really cause their all good! well except one that even tuomas wonders how in the hell he made that one
EDIT!: Wait a sec... how dare you to call Over the hills and far away a bad cover by nightwish!? That song rocks!!
EDIT2: Undomiel....you are terribly wrong about wishmaster basing on LOTR, it actually bases on Dragonlance the inn of last home is a place in dragonlance and shalafi means master in elvish in the DL books

Raivynn_Phoenix wrote: There are more LotRs inspired bands than you might think. Even if they just take there name from things in the book. Blind Guardian being one if not the most well known for it.
And to keep this on topic. Marco Hietala = RAWR Vikings!
Yeah there's lot of bands inspired by LotR. If I'm not mistaken there's one band called Galadriel and obviously their lyrics are inspired by LotR.

Another couple of bands that spring to mind are Ephel Duath and Arwen.
Quote: Over the Hills and Far Away is a cover? Who did the original?
Unless I'm mistaken, it was originally done by Gary Moore. Didn't like his version and I think that's what plays a part in me not liking Nightwish's cover of it. Sorry if that upsets people, but in all my 18 and a half years of being into rock and metal I've yet to come across a band that is perfect and I love every song they write and record.

Reading this thread made me curious, so I googled Nightwish, and right now I'm listening to a few of their songs. Right now I'm listening to *looks* uh, Everchild. I like them! The lead singer has a beautiful voice, and I love the metal mixed with strings.
