^That's true, I'd forgotten Thanksgiving wasn't the same world-wide...

I've never been away from home for either Christmas or Thanksgiving (except when we lived in Africa, but that was home then so it was different).

Basically it's the celebration of the colonization of America. The Pilgrims settled here and with help from the Native Americans living in the area, set up a big feast.

We haven't learned much in detail in school and it's been a while so please forgive me if something I said was wrong. :P

Yeah, it's that and also this:

When the pilgrims set from england to America, when they got here life was really hard for them. Loads of people kept dying from lack of medecine, because it was cold and lack of proper nutrition. The pilgrims couldn't farm very well at all and basically, everything sucked. The native americans came and helped them, showed them how to farm, how to set up etter how houses, and how to care for thier sick better. So, it is traditonally said that the pilgrims then set up a big veast to celebrate with the native americans to give thanks for everything they did-hence the word: Thanksgiving. And the turkey was the main course there, along with other things traditional of thanksgiving meals: corn foods, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoe foods, and other stuff.
I guess no one takes into consideration what the americans did after that to the indians, in terms of murdering and killing them all.... :eyeroll:

So yeah, there you have it. Thanksgiving. :]

LadyofRohan: have fun! that sounds cool. :)

Okay, thanks for asking! :)

My dog just got his nail caught in one of the blankets I have laying on the floor. He hates having his paws touched and I hope he's okay. :(

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Sweden so I won't be doing anything. I'm not in school either but the Christmas break usually lasts from 21st of December to 9th of January in Sweden (give or take a few days depending on the year and whereabouts in Sweden you live).

I first go to my grandma's then to my dad's house and back home with my mom and her boyfriend. After all of that I'll have most likely eaten THREE dinners! :swoon: (<--closest to dying emoticon) I'll die before I can finish!

Yeah, I was just going to say was that before they started taking their land away and killing them or after. Having said that, the Pilgrims were first generation Brits, it was later on when they became Americans that the trouble started. And the poor Natives, are still having trouble today. Terrible. *shakes head*

Wow, three meals! You'll pop!
