Well, legolas acknowledges Gimlis Victory in the books and so we must also come to that same conclusion that Gimli was victor.

Maybe legolas won @ the pellenor fields I dont know lol but it is cool in ROTK, when legolas kills that Mumak and Gimli says " that still only counts as one!" ah, thats buzzing...

Is it just me, or do other people find GimliLegolas slash the most inconcievable and disgusting notion imaginable? (Not to mention that it would probably be anatomically impossble in some way...)

It's amazing how some people will just take advantage of anything. Seriously, someone needs to form a society that'll pull people's minds out of the gutter.

Sorry, just had to find somewhere to express my feelings...

My humble opinion: Slash in general isn't good. If you want same gender sex then make up your own characters. Slash between such esteemed characters as Gimli and Legolas is disrespectful to both the actors who played them and to Tolkien himself.

It just doesnt seem right to think like that. X.O.ringer is right, someone will hjabe to form a society to pull peoples minds out of th egutter.
That is just sick.

yes, sorry EA i believe i meant for this thread to go into the movies section but seeing as its here i guess we can discuss the relationship between them anyway. It's just so fasinating that two foes could just revert to best friends over night! It goes from Gimli completley protesting about Legolas' company in the quest with quotes such as 'Never Trust an Elf' over and over despite the fact that argumentt escalated over thefate of the ring rather than an elf going on the quest. That's amusing.

I'm glad Tolkien showed a firendship between an elf and dwarf because I believe it ended the rivalry/hatred between the two races. :-D

Yeah as Gimli was the first dwarf to be allowed into the Undying lands and that it shows that even ingrained hatred can be overecome. This is how I interpreted anyway....

It demonstrates that not all evil corrupts. In this case it actually lead to the blossoming friendship of two unlikley characters and i think that rocks!

I absolutley love the fact that after all of this time Gimli and Legolas decide to carry on counting up there orc kills! I think that's awesome! After TTT when Legolas finally says something like 'how about standing with a friend' i can't quite remember what it is lol but something like that. I love the fact that Legolas jumps onto the Olephant, kills the riders, kills th eolephant, neatly slides down the trunk, smirks at Gimli who shouts 'THAT STILL ONLY COUNTS AS ONE!' i was absolutley cheered up when i heard that. I was streaming with tears at the movie, but hearing that gave room for a wee giggle to come out lol.

Actually, that was in ROTK at the Black Gates, but I love that quote, and Gimli's quote, lol. That was the one my sister told me about when I wasn't a fan. I was a fan, but I hadn't read or seen the films until 2004. ROTK (book) was boring, as all of them, and that's all I want to say.
