OK--you know you're weird when you have Mozart's Requiem on your iPod. I decided I loved classical music when I joined my choir...OMG, you think it's all old-fashioned and for old ladies and stuff but it's really really nice! And if you think I'm wrong try listening to the Dies Irae from Verdi's Requiem...
So is anyone else as weird as I am?

It's pretty much all I listen to. And I completely know what you mean about choral music, Vael, in fact, I've heard your choir! Heehee...you MUST hear mine. We sang Vivaldi's Gloria this year, part of the Messiah last year...and then the Mikado has some good operetta.

I have classical stuff on my iPod... and yeah, I know I'm weird!
I've started listening to iTunes classical stations because it's less distracting! I've been brought up listening to classical music, especially violin stuff (because I play it.)
I listen to a classical radio station in the morning, too, and have for the last 8 years. It's what wakes me up.
I love choral stuff (I'm *slightly* obsessed with an excerpt from "Ave Maria" by Franz Bibel... I think. It just seems to me to be soo... beautiful.)
But I really can't listen to opera. I do - because I'm too lazy to turn off the radio, but it doesn't mean anything to me. I like the instrumental part of operas! We're doing stuff from Camen in orchestra, and it's great! The conductor sings us the solos and tells us the plot inbetween. (He's a singer, too.. so he does it really well!)
I also love adagios... *sighs* they're so beautiful.

Hey I was brought up with classical music- I've loved it since I can remember. I love Mozart and Tchaikovsky- their music is so elegant and unique. I have so many classical CDs I can't keep track of them!

OMG! Laudamus Te is the BEST SONG EVER! I've done Vivaldi's Gloria, Bach's St. John Passion, Verdi and Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Esther and Handel's Messiah, and Benjamin Britten's St. Nicolas.

Classical Music is not my favourite but I still love it! How can you love playing paino and NOT love it? Although I only like choir music if it's well done. The choir at my school is pretty bad people are only in it for the fine arts credit and so no one bothers to learn the song or sing on tune... makes me so mad!

Ooh yeah, and we did Verdi's Requiem at Carnegie Hall last year...which is the most famous concert hall in the world I think.
Weird.

The music I like is a little more obscure. Not too many people have heard of Grieg, apparently, though you may recognize what he wrote. In the hall of the Mountain King, Anitra's Tanz, the whole Peer Gynt suite.
I'm proud to say, my school has an excellent chorus. I go to a little private school, and we're really blessed to have about 95% of our students be good singers and actors! We have a 60 member chorus...but we hardly fit on our tiny stage!
I actually don't like opera so much as I like operetta. Big difference, you see. Operetta is usually comic, and easier to listen to. More talking. All in all, it's very very fun.

Oh I love The Hall of the Mountain King! The way it starts off quiet and then explodes with sound!

In der Halle des Bergkonig, according to the music we're playing next term in orchestra, and we're going a Grieg piano concerto with one of the pinaists at the end of the year.
I wouldn't say that Grieg was obsure. People like Boccherini, Lully, Faure, Eccles is getting obsure. Though I don't listen to their music, I play it! I love Faure. Anyone else know?
