Well then lets make sure we say our verses correctly or we would be put to the stake for blasphemy!
And that was highly associated with witch craft in those days!

i seriously cant even imagine being in that kind of situation. it would be so awful for me and my family. we are so lucky to live in a great society today. i mean i know we still have issues, but in some ways its definately better.

The sad things though is that the officials of the town during the hysteria would sometimes lead on the accused woman's children to confess that their mother was a witch. These children could be as young as four-years-old and they would have confessed to it under pressure.

Oh, the Salem Witch Trials were awful...and The Crucible is a great illustration of that. Simple logic and reason was set aside for madness...word of mouth was believed over tangible evidence.

Children confessed to their mother's using witchcraft?! That's terrible, and a bit disturbing. I had no idea children were involved at all really. We didn't cover it in our World History class.

I can actually imagine that. It is like the children of Marie Antoinette (sp) and King Louis. Their son was forced to say terrible things about his parents in order for them to be executed.

We only learnt about English witch-trials and stuff...and by 'learnt', I mean 'accused our teacher of being a witch and refused to listen to her'. Not very interesting.

I never learnt much about it either, except what I have picked up from keeping my eyes and ears open (as always).
It's horrible that the children were made to confess! That's so very sad! It's like people just lost their minds...

Oh, during the Witch Trials, people were spouting false confessions left and right. It came to the point at which anyone who had a grudge against another woman would accuse her. And yeah, kids were manipulated into fingering their mothers, while confessing themselves at the same time.

yeah, people can be really cruel to the most innocent of beings. i've heard that kids are tortured to make the parents confess to things they havent done or to confess themselves. This is way too depressing. and yea, a lot of things from our history books are hidden or changed. My cousin had to read a book during the summer that revealed a lot of the hidden truths. sad sad sad...

I know! I read in the newspaper today (yes, I'm a geek, and I read the paper) about a man who was raising ducklings, and someone came during the night and stomped on them in their cage. On little fuzzy defenseless DUCKLINGS. It made me so mad!

They better hope they weren't pink ducklings or we'll be havin' some major trouble here.
