i am coming in rather late, i think. what is the exact discussion here? characters we don't like? i don't much like arwen either. i dunno why. there is just something about her.
and i am not sure i would like to kiss viggo either. he scares me...and he has facial hair. i don't really dig rugged guys.

I can't stand movie Arwen, she sounds way too whiny ;_; And I've always disliked her for getting Aragorn

Oh! And I don't really like Arya. She's sort of a flat character, really. Maybe she develops more personality in Eldest, but I haven't read that yet. So far, in Eragon, all she does is look pretty and helpless/unconsious and fight.

I guess I talked about both, both of them may wear those clothes and Arwen may kiss Aragorn (she even marries him) and Liv Tyler may kiss Viggo

Characters we dislike because we're jealous of them? Sorry, there I can't contribute much. And I don't want to kiss any guy. GROSS. EWWWW. The only guy I'll ever kiss/want to kiss will be my husband, whoever he is and whenever I find him.
As for characters with faults... I like characters that have flaws. Characters who are so strong and wonderful and always know what to do and never get upset... UGH. Characters who have flaws are more human, and thus I relate to them more.
However, that can go too far. If a character is really flawed (i.e. a badguy) then forget it, I can hardly ever like them. If they're not even trying to do what's right ever, than I don't like them. The few exceptions are Dorian Gray (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) and Davy Jones. They're complex and interesting, so I like them from a writer's point of view.

Arya got on my last nerves in the movie, I've only begun to read the books so.

ah! the topic! now, i'm set! i don't not like any ladies because of flaws or guy friends. i am biased. i just read the first description, and that's that usually. i hve made up in my mind if i like them or not...and i usually am wrong, but then i can't stop hating them. its a problem i have.

Arya ... well I guess she's okay. When she's awake, that is I'm more annoyed by Eragon's immatureness and disabilty of thinking <.<

Eragon told me he doesn't know what thinking IS
I generally don't like annoying female characters who can't seem to do anything without the help of the dashing male character.

^I agree with that, Curran. I like female characters to have at least some strength.

I know! Women can do things just like men can! It's about time that we ladies are portrayed differently! *raises pitchfork*
