I think there are plenty of girl-power books! Look at Meg Cabot...['cept I don't like reading any of those...]

I don't think I'm in favor of girls and guys having exactly the same role/portrayal, because we're very different. We were made that way. But I do think that often girls are mis-portrayed or underestimated.

*sudders at the thought of a female Aragorn*
No, not like that, I just don't like how women are always portrayed as helpless and weak.

what im startign to find in the world of female protagonists, is that they're too strong, they're accomplishing too much over too short a time, i think writers need to scale back, look at the big picture and see what real women would be able to accomplish

Ah, the fine line between girl-power and Mary Sue.

I think its so annoying too! Every story save a handful have weak supporting female charries! I mean thats the wonder of this world now a days is that women can go just as far as their male counterparts and that we supposedly have equal rights though sometimes I think its untrue. Like I used to have a friend who was one of the top contenders in her age division in dirt bike racing while her brother wasn'. But even though she was better and had a sponsor they wouldn't interview her or anything because I think she put it that it was really a guys sport so she shouldn't even be here. It makes me so mad sometimes

I love reading books with strong women character.s I agree that sometimes they do accomplish too much in a short amount of time, but I like the fact that women are portrayed more often now. I also love seeing women authors with bestsellers.

I would like to be a bestselling author one day, but I have little to no faith in my writing. Almost everyone else does, but I really don't.

Exact same situation with my writing, Curran.

haha! welcome to my world darling! i have written about a thousand first pages of my novel. the story is there, the words are not. i just can't decide where to start!
and, i have a strong female in my novel, ironically enough. not the protagonist though. more of a minor character. the hero is a guy, sorry ladies.

I personally like stories where the main character is a guy, esp. when it's written by a woman.
A woman's idea of the male mind can be entertaining at times...
I think a great example of a woman that's reasonable is Torie O'Shea in Rett MacPherson's books. I simply loved the character in Killing Cousins...

lol! If you'd like a sample of my writing, I believe I have a story posted on the last page of the writers' club...
