Post subject: Shivers down your spine? Posted: February 26th, 2007, 5:05 pm |

hey
just wondering if there's any particular part of the soundtrack to any of the films which just sends shivers right down your spine..
for me it's in Return of the King, right after Aragorn says "My friends, you bow to no one" and the orchestra comes in with the *in dreams* (I think) theme.....so amazing...

The Lothlorien theme, and "Gollum's Song". Both are haunting yet beautiful.

There are heaps of such scenes. E.g. the scene you named ShaliAngel, but also the first scene of Aragorn and Arwen in Rivendell, the Lothlorien theme, the Moria music (the beginning)..

I...dont have one.
Well, I dont have the ROTK soundtrack, but "Shelobs Lair" certainly would seem like it would send "shivers down your spine" and the TTT nor any of the FOTR tracks sound haunting. maybe "May it be" ...sounds..not weird..but piercing..just her voice.

I can recognize "Gollum's Song," "Into the West," "May it Be," "Shelob's Lair," "Forth Eorlingas," "The Black Gate Opens," and "Minas Tirith," when I hear them.

That one has a very distinctive opening.

Whenever I listen to any of the soundtracks, I try to picture what's going on during the movie at the moment of each song.
As for a song that sends shivers down my back, I'd have to say "Steward of Gondor". Not nessasarily the entire song, but just when Pippin is singing to Denethor.

I do that as well. I can't do anything against in fact, because I automaically assosiate the soundtrack with the scenes in the movies.

Shivers? I get quite a lot of those when it comes to anything Tolkien.
For me, it's especially the dark mysterious parts of the music....like the Prophecy and Gollum's Song and "The Shadow of the Past".
And as for scenes, for some reason the Prologue. I suppose its because that's the beginning. And I love how PJ did it......Cate's voice was the perfect beginning.

I've finally gotten my hands on all 3 soundtracks for the first time, and I love them! Currently, I'm only about 3/4 of the way through the FotR soundtrack, but "The Council of Elrond" really sent me shivers!
