You know what, I think that was a mean thing to do. ALL of you practically ganged up on Shy...And you expected her not to sound a little mean/upset? I have been in the same position she was in and I think it cruel. I think making fun of Murtagh's clothes was NOT needed either. I think Shy stated that Murtagh was her favorite character so I think it was said to get her even more upset. and I agree with what she said, about clothes not making a difference in the film. What the heck was up with deleting her? She was merely defending herself(from pretty much everyone here) and a story she likes. But even if you think she sounded mean, you can't blame her. What would you do if 5 to 15 people even were all against you? I know it is alright to state your opinions but I think it mean to gang up on someone like that. I know you all probably want me gone now too, but who cares? Do away with me!

We have NO power whatsoever to delete members. And the mods would not do it for something as trivial as a member having a humble opinion. I wonder where she went, too, okay? And this thread was meant for those who dislike Eragon... we did not gang up on her. She just kept coming back. She kept saying for the last ten pages that she would leave the thread and did she? No. It is not our fault that she got upset. We did not force her to reply to what we say. You cannot accuse us of anything here, so please watch what you say... everyone has the right to have their own opinion here as long as it is reasonable. And ours are all reasonable opinions. We are not obligated to like Eragon like you guys do, and we certainly do not appreciate being told what we should and should not do just because you think that it is right. Nobody was making fun of Murtagh's clothing. We were criticizing. Making fun and criticizing are two different things, if you did not know that already. He did wear the most unsuitable clothing for the movie.. it did not even fit the time that they were in! Nobody wore clothing like that before... it's common sense.

We do not think that she sounded mean... nobody said that she did. I was fine with her defending what she likes. Just as you ought to respect the fact that we happen to dislike what you like. We were not ganging up on her, for the last time... we just happen to be more than her because this thread is for people who DISLIKE Eragon. Realise that there IS another thread on this forum for people who DO like Eragon. And that is where she should have gone if she did not like what we said about it. If I went onto that thread and posted there about the things that I hated about Eragon, I would be "ganged upon" by all the Eragon lovers. Why? You guess.

This is not candyland... not everyone likes the things that you do and not everyone agrees with everything that you say. Reality... face it.

And if you, too, dislike what we say and if you are going to act so childish about it, then please... just go to the Eragon fan thread and let us be.

Okay, I beleive you when you say you don't know why Shy was deleted, but I still think it has to do with this topic. And is the topic called "Eragon Rant Thread: Eragon fans stay out." Or anything of the sort? No, it is simply called Eragon. It was never stated that this was a rant, criticism thread. She could have assumed that this was a plain topic to discuss Eragon in general, and that you all just hated it. Did I ever say you had to like Eragon? Did I say that you couldn't state your opinions? No, I didn't. But it sure looks like you ganged up on her to me. If you want to rant about something, I suggest you do it over PM or atleast state that it is a rant topic in the title. There is no call to make other members upset over silly things like this. I don't think it is childish for me to stand up for someone and I faced reality a long time ago, and my conclusion of it with this situation is, topics like this only start trouble. I think there should be a rule against them and if people want to bash something, do it through PMs. It is okay to state you don't like something in the main topic for it and if the fans don't like it they can get over it. But a topic for bashing? I am not trying to make things worse, and I'm sorry if it seems I am. I hope this won't effect my friendship with you Haldir or with any of my other friends. Hmmm no, you see... we told Shy at the beginning of this topic that this topic was not to her liking. You did not say that we had to like Eragon or that we could not state our opinions, but you implied it. Look at you! You are flaming us for doing it right now and accusing us of ganging up on her. The whole point of a forum is to talk about things, positively OR negatively. If everyone did things over PM just because two of you do not like it, then what is the point of the forum, pray? We did not force her to get upset over this... she just kept on coming back. Are we to blame? No. We were not ever bashing Eragon... we were criticizing it. I think that should not be a problem? Just because you do not like it, it does not mean that we have to keep our mouths shut about it. There is a rule against anti-clubs, but anti-threads have to be allowed unless they are spamming and breaking rules. And we are not. We are doing it constructively... even Shy admitted that we were allowed to have our opinion on this awhile ago.

Of course your opinion ought to be respected... it's just that it sounds a lot like you are trying to lord over this whole thing right now... like you are trying to make us feel guilty over something that we did not do wrong? So now it is wrong to dislike something out in the open? Like I keep on stressing.. the world is not such a perfect place... face it. And stop fussing and whining over such trivial things as someone not having the same preferences as you.

Why do you continue to argue anyway? Try as you may, you cannot beat down the fact that we are all allowed our opinions without getting flamed and told off for it.

First of all, we did not "gang up on her." All we did was say, we did not like Eragon. We didn't say that she couldn't like it, we simply stated our reasons for not liking it.
Second, we never said that Murtagh was a bad character, only that we disliked what the costume design team did with him.
Third, as Haldir said, we did NOT delete her. The only way she could have deleted her account would have been to ask the moddies to.
Fourth, she had the option not to read what we posted. So it isn't our fault if got mad about what we wrote. I'm not trying to be mean to her, and I'm really very sorry that she left.
Fifth, we don't want you gone, and we can't do away with you. It's understandable that you're mad, but please don't blame us for it.

My gosh. I leave for 5 pages and I miss everything! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but for heaven's sake, I just read through it all and it seems like the anti-Eragons were being a bit harsh. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of Eragon myself. No one ganged up on her or anything, but as rule, it's good to be nice when in doubt. Respecting people's opinions does mean not bashing them. Sentences such as "Haha. yeah, I just think ___ is sort of ___. It's a bit too ___ for my tastes. He could have been a bit more original, you know?" Are better than "Well, ___ is not talented. Has ___ ever heard of originality? Geez, the stuff is sooo blatant. Eragon totally sucks."

I really don't want to point fingers. What happened is obviously regrettable...Shy left because of it, apparently...so I just hope we can all take a lesson from this.

No, it's not your fault she got mad. But she did get mad in response to what you wrote. I'm not saying you should never write something if it offends someone. She may have overreacted a bit. But more understanding on both sides would have helped.

Haha well I will never try acting like you, firstly. It would annoy myself... and that's not really what anyone would want to do, is it? And I never apologize for things that I never did either... I don't think anyone does. There are no "main topics" on anything... I am not going to post my criticism in a thread full of happy fans... it just doesn't seem right, and that would cause more problems than this.

I'm really sorry that you had to leave. We did state our reasons, and some of you just had a hard time agreeing. I hope that sometime you'll come back, but I guess that's not my decision.

Now, we can either continue talking in a CIVILIZED manner, or just let this thread go. When I started this thread so many months ago, I was just a newbie, and would never have guessed that it would turn into this.

And for the last time, I do not hate Eragon. I just strongly dislike it.

um... Wow! Okay... I half and half agree with everybody!

The first time I read Eragon was for a stupid book report for school! And then I had a bad grudge against it... but I had to buy the book, because all my teacher's books were being read, and there were like, a bazilion holds on it at the library. Then just a few months ago I had to read Eldest for a book report.

I have a mixed opinion on Eragon now! At first I thought CP got Eragon from Aragorn, until I figured out this:

And Murtagh, yeah, I agree with the cloths. Murtagh's a cool character, but the costume people could've done a better job.

And Arya and Arwen both mean 'Noble'. I mean, if you go to elvish name translations on the AU main page, Arwen is elvish for Arya.

And I do agree with you guys on the plot and everything, because it does seem alot like Star Wars!

Very funny video. That's the thing - Eragon is a good book and all, but you just can't ignore the similarities. However, I find laughter a better solution to those problems than anger.
