Too true lol :-D And he wouldn't be quite the same with a lass, if that makes sense.

Ah yes. To be honest I hadn't thought about that...
I'm starting to agree with bow_and_arrow - he kind of seems more like a lone wolf type, now that I think about it. I just like everybody to have somebody. :)

There's always him in Valinor, Ánië. He might have met someone there. :)

Ohh come on... what, are you turning Valinor into a romantic dating haven where love sick elves flock to find the love of their eternal life, lol.

Tolkien didn't assign Legolas a fe-mate as he didn't need one for the part he was playing in the fellowship. Boromir or Gimli didn't have anyone either. They were simply supporting characters and it wasn't necessary to elaborate on their lives, and the same goes for the movie - well, especially for the movie or it would have been even longer and had deviated even more from Tolkien's original text.

Anyway, I will be resonable and can not deny the fact that Legolas might actually had one waiting for him - or found one later on. Since Tolkien didn't tell about that part of his life, it leaves plenty of room for romantic fanfics - and everybody should be happy!! ;-)

Lol. A dating haven. Haha. That wasn't exactly what I meant, but...now that you mention it, :)

And as for why Legolas didn't get a fe-mate, well, your reasons are basically the same as mine, which for once I posted before you posted yours. :D

So we agree on yet another thing.

^Ea says that Legolas's role in the movie didn't call for him to have a girl. Aerandir, your reason (to my understanding) was that Legolas didn't have the important enough role for there to be romance involved between Legolas & a girl.

As I understand it, Eä's reason was that Legolas' role (in movie and book) simply didn't call for a girl. My reason was that his role wasn't big enough.

I suppose I should switch out 'basically' with 'essentially' in my previous post, though, since it makes it sound as though I'm saying that they were, to all appearances, the same.

In my understanding what Eä was saying was that we can't know whether Legolas had a fe-mate or not and that it isn't important at all, because his part in the fellowship is the warrior. Legolas is not characterized by love and compassion like e.g. Faramir, and love doesn't drive his actions like they might do Aragorn.
Those were the words and opinions of the infamous Eä :P

No. I like the fact Legolas was independant in the movies. I like the idea of this independence influencing his strong character.

I thought it was wrong that Legolas didn't get a lover in any of the movies. But, of course, Aragorn got both of the girls in the movies to like him. lol. I think that Legolas deserved a girl. What do you all think?

This is what he would look like...

i really like your picture, he looks even cuter than he looks like in the films.
i too think that he should have gotten a maiden, but someone who would make him really happy and who would be right for him... :duh:

And like the others said, Legolas may've had a girl - Tolkien just didn't mention it, since he wasn't one of the most important characters.
He may, he may not, what does it matter anyway?

Tolkien simply didn't mention it and left it to the fangirls to fantasize over.

Though he would maybe just spontaneously come up with a love-story for poor Legolas if he saw the monstrous amount of awful Mary-Sue Legomances on, say, fanfiction.net ....*shivers*...:P

But...he was part of the Nine. He's important! *pouts* (Sorry, character loyalty. )

Well, he probably didn't know that they'd pick quite such a nice-looking male to play Leggy, and thus have 5 million girls swoon over him. :P But yeah, if he were alive he'd be like "Uhh, yeah, of course Legolas had a girl! Her name was...[insert random Elvish name here]!" ;)

No worries, I know what you meant...can't help it though. :P It's rather a habit, now.

Oh dear... *snickers* Poor man. He wouldn't like it very much nowadays, would he, with all this pollution and rabid fangirlishness about. ;)

If we asked Tolkien he'd probably say, "Legolas? Who is Legolas? You've got the idiot surfind down stairways and using phrases like, 'Game over'!" :-D

Anyway...Legolas+a girl=weirdness. He is absentminded and rather random, not to mention independent. I can't see him settling down and marrying and raising a family, or even marrying and traveling. It just doens't work.

And if he isn't taken you can all fight over him as much as you want. ;)

Personaly speaking I really wish that they had given him a girl. I do not like it when they call poor Leggy gay (no offence meant). :( Plus I really think that he deserved to be loved. Now as most here know I am a Major shipper of LEowyn...(Legolas and Eowyn, once again no offence meant and please do not kill me...eek). However adding a new girl would be okay too. :-D I (as many others here) like to think that he found himself a woman in the Havens or that he had one waiting for him back in Mirkwood. (sighs) Since it was not orginaly written in the movies or the books though it does make room for writter(s) to create him one or make their own fanfiction with a ship with other allready established female characters (such as Eowyn... : :-D). So my vote is yes....give the Elf a girl! Just my opinion though.
