I never even noticed the change. I'm going to have to watch the movie again.

Not to say that I watch these movies only for eye candy, but...you're right.

^I agree, I hate the label "sexy" anyway. I use "attractive" instead.

Well, I noticed the very first time that I watched the movies that his eye color would change between brown and blue (yes I am a major and proud to be fangirl of Legolas). I would say that it was a contuity error. I say that because he had to wear contacts and well I can find no real reason for having the character's eye color drasticly change in seperate and seeminlgy random scenes. However I really do not know that for a fact.

Itarilde, I did not know that Orlando's contacts bothered him that much. Then again I know extremely little about contacts in general. Hmmm poor Orlando. Thank you for sharing that information with us. :-D

Personaly speaking I prefer Orlando with his beutiful brown eyes. The blue look is drop dead gorgeous of course but I just prefer the natural look on him when it comes to eyes. He has such depth to his eyes and it is just beutiful. Now with that being said though I think that having him have blue eyes to play Legolas was a good idea. Now I do not remember it saying in the actual book if Legolas had blue eyes or some other color (I do not think that it stated one way or the other...correct me if I am wrong). However blue eyes did strike me as an Elvish thing. There was no real reason why, just that when I tried to pictures Elve I imagine the blonde Elves having blue eyes. Brown would have been fine too but blue just seemed to fit, in my opinion. So I greatly appreciate, that despite the fact that the contacts were uncomfortable for Orlando, that he dealt with the discomfort and wore them for us (the audience). :-D

Elenthari, Yes, Legolas (and Orlando Bloom) are both ultra sweet and majorly sexy. ( :swoon: :swoon: :swoon:)

But it's only logical most Elves in the books have grey eyes, as all elves whose eye colour was mentioned were Arwen and Elrond -and they're related!
Well, and Luthien, but since Arwen's suposed to look almost identical to her...I don't think that's a point.

Elladan and Elrohir were said to have grey eyes as well...so I just assumed that most Elves did indeed have grey eyes. But I guess we'll never know for sure.

Legolas was said to have "bright" eyes. Over and over again, as a matter of fact. It was like Tolkien liked his eyes. =D

But that kind of takes away the "grey" option. If you'll notice, Legolas does have bright eyes at all times no matter what color they are. But I like the brown eyes best.

Unfortunately, sometimes in pictures in which he looks really good with brown eyes, the contacts actually are there and his eyes are just shadowed or something. Like in the A and L arguing scene in ttt; His eyes are obviously brown but I did a color tester on them and moved it up to see what the base color was and it was actually bright blue!! :o

Also, if you call Legolas sexy you're going to get the reputation of a silly fan girl. There's other reasons to like his character besides his looks.

Nope, I just read where Tolkien said Arwen has bright eyes and hers were definitely said to be grey, so oh well. But I still like Legolas with brown for some reason...

Tolkien said they were grey, but it might be harder to find actors with grey eyes who fit all the other qualifications so the casting team probably figured blue was close enough to grey and called it good.

Come to think of it, Tolkien said just about everyone had grey eyes. That looks nice on the page, but in a movie it'd be pretty boring.

You're right about that, not everybody should have blue eyes either. They needed a variety. Pippin had green, at least; Eowyn had green; Eomer had brown; Gimli had brown...

For me, blue eyes are quite disastrous...so actually, I agree with you guys. More brown or green would've been nice. :-D
