Okay, so I was listening to the radio last night, and the station I most often listen to has a program where listeners can call in and talk to the DJ (I think most of you know what I mean). So this guy calls in last night and says his first son has just been born, and guess what the kid's name is? Patrick Theoden! :-D No kidding. Apparently it was his wife's family's tradition to have the kids' middle names be those of Tolkien characters. I think he mentioned that his wife's middle name was Galadriel, and her two brothers' middle names were Meriadoc and Celeborn. I just thought that was so awesome! (I may even use the idea with my future kids. :P )

My mom was reading the births section of the newspaper and saw a little girl whose middle name was Eowyn. I was insanely jealous.

I happen to know two baby girls named Arwen and one baby boy specifically named Samwise instead of Samuel. I also happen to know a couple expecting twin boys to be named Faramir and Boromir. =]]

Aww, that's awesome! :) Arwen actually is a Welsh name too, it means "muse" I think. So I might use it sometime. :-D

Aw, those are SO adorable! If I had two twin boys, I would DEFINITELY name them Elladan and Elrohir (they're beautiful names, too), no question. Son and daughter: Eowyn and Eomer. Just a daughter/son? SO many possibilities...

I'd love a daughter named Arwen! *vows to marry a man only if he lets me name the children*

Wow that's such a cool tradition.. If my middle-name was the name of a Tolkien character.... that'd be soo cool

A Girl I know has the middle name Arwen. I was so envious when I found out. Her parents love Tolkien, but she doesn't! I would be more deserving of the name!

I wish I had one too. If I have kids I want to name them some thing from Tolkien's work.

Me and my friends all ride horses and we try to come up with show name's for them them, (they tend to be longer and more powerfull sounding than there usenames.) I always come up with elvish or lotr related ones. One horse was named Viper, so his was 'Riddermark Victory.'

I long ago decided that I would be using LotR names for my children's middle names (future husband permitting, of course). I don't really like the thought of condemning a poor child to a first name like "Peregrin" or "Bilbo" (they would be teased, I guarantee), but I would love a middle name like "Galadriel" or "Celebrian" for a girl, and maybe something like "Meriadoc" for a boy. My current favorite combination is "Anna Galadriel".

Oh dear...

One quality the guy I marry must have is that he must like Tolkien. And put up with these middle names. :P

In Sweden, Arwen is a common first name for a girl
...but I like the idea of middle names
...my children are all too old to be re-named, he he,
..but I have a couple of cats that might not mind

I think a few of the shorter names would be nice, like Elwe or Arwen.

Names we should NOT give our children:
Nob
Goldberry
Treebeard
Ghan-buri-ghan
Merry
Elrohir
Barliman
Orophin
And many more, of course. :P
