WOW, Darky. Those are amazing, way better then my first attempts. I haven't had a whole lot of time to play with GIMP lately.
I think the text would work if you faded it a bit more, made it sort of background and not as visible as it is? Maybe. I personally like using text for that effect.

Mmm, I like that banner Elenya, it looks just right.
Yes, text is my arch enemy on GIMP. How do you fade it?

^Thanks!
This is how I've been fading text. (I don't know if it's the best way, though! lol) I use one of the eraser brushes, usually a fuzzy brush, and I set the opacity down, then I erase the text until I like the way it looks.

^ Yeah, I do that too...
I haven't had much time to be on GIMP lately. It's sad.

Love the sig Meldawen! I still want to know how you do that texture type thingy...
I'm currently trying to make a few of my pieces of artwork into banners, but.... its not turning out so well.

For that one, I just used the Text tool (black text), made the type small-ish, and positioned it so that the text covered the entire banner. The text is, incidentally, from the poem Here There Be Dragons by Jane Yolen. That font is Porcelain, I believe. Anyway, then I adjusted the layer opacity until I liked it, and used the eraser to fade the text over where the actual dragons were so it's more of a background. There's a different layer of white text there too, but it's faded so you can just barely see
And thanks, guys!

It's actually full! REALLY did not expect that. I'm rather flattered.
