In the past I've tended to worry a lot over sicknesses and so on if I think about them too much, so I basically try not to think about them at all. Typically I pretend I'm not sick, even if I can barely sit up. But lately I've not worried so much... I do what I can to be healthy, and as for the rest, it's out of my hands so I don't need to worry about it.

((JF, your banner and avatar are awesome btw))

 Nice to see you around again. :-)

Yes, that's pretty much what I tend to do as well. You can't do much to prevent the big stuff from happening to you, and worrying about it won't help. One of my favourite quotes is:

"Worry is like a rocking horse. It gives us something to do but never gets us anywhere".

And it's perfectly true.

Thank you. :-)

I hadn't heard that quote before; I think I'm going to save it. I ought to send it to a few of my friends... it's very true.

Hullo, Aramel! *huggles* So good to see you again. By the way, I really like your avatar. :)

Lovely quote as well JF. *le nod* I should probably right that one down, as it's definitely something I can relate with my own life.

I've heard that quote before, JF. :) It's one of my favorites.

As for girls liking LotR, I've noticed that girls either LOVE it (that would be us :P ) Or they can't stand it, whereas guys tend to float in the middle, thinking it's a cool movie, but forgetting all about it when the next war flick comes out. At least, this is what I have experienced. Now, I have been blessed with a wonderful group of friends who are just as nerdy as I am and are not afraid to express there love for LotR, SW, and the like. In fact, I think I know more girls in RL who love LotR than guys who do.

I know more girls in RL who like it better, but I really only know of one guy who likes it, usually I don't talk with guys... and the guys in our youth group aren't much for reading.

Alriht, I think this may seen like sudden topic to speak of but I think I need t let it out. We are all women here and all go throught rhe menstrual cyclel sdome worse then others. I, personally, have a heavy one and sometimes a painful and miserable one, I sometimes actually get sick from it. But the thing is, I only grow through the worst for the first two or three days, (I go through awhole week) and I know some people who have it so bad that they have to take birth control pills to help them through it. I know full well that it can light the flow and takee away a lot of them pain and all that stuf. What I am trying to say it that my mom think that I should start taking them so I don't have to go thtough a whole week of it and be in complete misaery for a the first two or three days, after that I am fine really, I just bleed, just not as much, but the thing is , I'd love to shorten it and take away the pain I go through but there is Midol, which I do take and it does help me alot but my mom thinks that I should take the birth control pills just so I can shorten the time frame, the flow, and misery but the problem is, I do not want to take them but I really dont think it gets through to my mom. I a, 24 years old, I have been going through the menstrual cycle since I was 13, I am use the stuff I go tuhough they just seem to get worse as i get older. I have said to my mom a number of times that I just don't want to take them and I am comfortable with them. This is not what want bitrth control pills were made for, it just happened and the fact that there are some Pharmacists out there that will refuse to give them to you because it is against their so-called religion. Yeah, so what I am Atheist, just give me the damn medicine I require. Why the hell did you become a Pharmacist then? Plus I look like a teenager and I do noyt want people to get wrong idea and think that I am some 16 or 17 kid having sex. I just do not haow to explain all this my mom. I am not one that likes to say how I feel and secondly, she does very well and likes try and cover up what I say. I just don'y kno w what to do.

pardom my typing and spelling erros, I am a bit on the tipsy side .

*the horse crazy AU gentlewoman is back after about almost a year of being away from the club*

I think last time I posted on here it was on 500 pages not close to 900...

Anyway, on the first topic:
Yes, I think more girls are fans of LotR than boys. Because LotR goes alot deeper and usually guys don't like to go that deep into something while the girls can't get enough. Boys are into it probably more for the fighting and action, while girls are in it for almost everything else with the exception of about 1/3 of the LotR fan girl population.

But I'd also say that this is a topic for the LotR threads... not the Gentlewoman's thread...

And Mrs. Haldir's topic:
There's nothing I can really say... me still being in my middle-teens and not having my menstral cycle on a regular basis yet...

I can't say that I can feel your pain [no pun intended!] Mrs.Haldir, because my menstrual flow is usually fairly light and very rarely do I get terrible cramps. However, I think you should probably have either a frank talk with your mother on why you do not think you should take birth control, or just ignore her entirely. I don't think you'll have to worry about her forcing you to take them. [And by force, I mean literally forcing the pill down your throat.] I also think your mother may be in need of a reminder that you are 24, which means you are a legal adult, and that you know what is best for your body.

I've got no advice... mine's not very heavy, and I don't usually have any pain except sometimes back pain. The first day I often feel a little sick, but nothing that stops me from doing anything.
When my back hurts a lot, I just take some tylonel...

Tylonel is a pain reliever... I probably spelled it wrong, though.

Yeah, normally when I'm in pain I don't say anything until it gets unbearable... the back pain never does, but it gets annoying sometimes.

Like my parents had no clue when I sprained my knee, I didn't keep off it or anything, same when I broke my toe, I just buddy taped it and left it.

uhh... I've been regular schedule since i was 12... O.o not fun!

@-Mrs. Haldy= I do feel your pain, to an extent. I've been cursed with 7 to 9 days of a menstral cycle. the shortest i've EVER gone is a week. Right now i'm suffering through my seventh day of cycle and i've been going heavy since the third. My mother just got birth control pills so i dont know how well they work yet (side effects and such) as she's not started taking them yet. On both sides of my parents family bad periods prevail so thats where i get mine. I normally dont take Midol because i dont cramp unbearably (but when i do its usually at night) but i bleed heavily. I sometimes have to wear two or three pads (cant do tampons alot because I've suffered from TSS (toxic shock syndrome) the first time i tried to use one i passed out in a friends bathroom. kinda a wierd feeling, if you know what i mean.... ;] ) Anywhoo. I'd do as Larael says and talk to your mother about it and decide for yourself. If you cant bear it then do so, if you want to look to see what other remedies you can find swing by a bookstore and see if theres a "home remidies" book of somesort. my mom has one...^^ they're fantastic. (though i've never looked up PMS symptoms and such...) thats all i can think of, friend! *Hugs*
