This might have been asked before, but I don't have time to look right now, so sorry if this is a repeat. I am considering investing in one really good graphics program (since they're so expensive). Which do most of you recommend? The ones I know are PhotoShop and PrintShop, but I know there are many versions of each. What do you recommend? I also need one that is easy to learn how to use. I tried GIMP a number of times, but could never figure it out...

I use Paint Shop Pro 8. It's fairly simple to learn.

I use Photoshop CS2 (I also use CS3, but that's really expensive... I think that's the only version they sell now though)... it's fabulous, easy to work with and to learn, and it's got tons of great functions.
Plus, Photoshop can be used professionally too, which is neat.

I use Photoshop 7, and love it. =)
Although, Paint Shop Pro is MUCH cheaper, and I have seen amazing things come out of that also.

Thanks for all the information, guys!
I'm not "brand new" to graphics. I currenty use Photosuite 3, which is great, but doesn't do everythig I want it to.
What's the difference between the different versions of photoshop? I found a photoshop elements 6 for about $80, but if it's like an add on or update or somthing obviously I won't consider it.

Well the newer ones have more functions
The newest one is Photoshop CS3 and the second newest before it is CS2. I'm personally not too fond of Elements because there's a lot of stuff you can't do with it, but it still works quite decently
I have a cracked (and therefore, free) of Photoshop CS2... so you could probably persuade someone to do it for you if you're not too big on righteousness

Here's my next question. I'm considering the new version (or any version really) of PSP. I know one store for sure that has it. There are people on ebay selling it for around half the store price. Is it worth the risk? The correll website has it for ten dollars cheaper than the store. Is that a better idea? Or am I better off just going to the store?

It's risky getting it off eBay... it may or may not be good. It's better buying it from the store where you can actually check the condition and stuff. Plus, if you get it a store, you're guaranteed and authentic and well-working product.

That's what I'm thinking. The Correl website has a free trial I might download first just to be sure...
♥ Thanks for all your help everyone! ♥

I can recommend you PhotoPlus which can do some nice stuffs, it's a bit like Photoshop tough it doesn't have all of the Photoshop's abilities... But you can still work with layers and blending opitions and at least it's free! And not to difficult to use, because, see, english is not my birth tongue and I can use it!
The only bad thing is that for registration you have to fill a complete form which is boring and since I don't like that a lot, I put fake informations in these!

I started out with PhotoPlus, which is great to use as a starting program, but eventually you will probably want the features of a more advanced program - one you will have to pay for. So then I moved to PaintShopPro 8, which is a great program as well. Still not as advanced as Photoshop, but good - just look at JF's amazing graphics! But now I own Photoshop CS2 and it's my baby. Photoshop is wonderful because it's used professionally, you will NEVER have trouble finding brushes, tutorials, or other resources for it - and all and all there are just SO many functions....I've had it for a few years and I don't even know the half of them! Only downside >> very expensive. But if you buy it with the Educational discount (which should be easy peasy lemon squeezy as long as you're in school ), that cuts the price in half practically.
Or you could go with Haldy's idea and get a cracked version

Thanks Gil! The only thing is, the photoshops I've found online (other than the elements) have been at least a thousand dollars. I have no where near that kind of money to spend...heck, I'm complaining about $100 for the paint shop pro and photoshop elements.
But I will most definitely look into this PhotoPlus. Is it anything like GIMP?
