Any choice makes sense. People chose who they thought would be best.

I have to say if there was such a government in M-E I would so vote for Aragorn! He is simply perfect for the position. although I can see Boromir or Treebeard being good presidents too. :teehee:

I can't say I can see Boromir as president. He has a good heart, but it belonged only to Gondor. I'd want someone who had the interest of all of Middle-earth in mind.

Aragorn - wise and cares for his friends (and subjects), isn't the type to sit back and watch others do the work, will stick to his rules and set an example. Also has a bit of foresight (very handy) and quite experienced; understanding and empathic from what I can see.

I think a lot of us voted for Aragorn because he's already a king. He may or may not already have the experience needed.

*Nods thoughtfully*

You may be right, ESS (if I can call you that? :-D or would you prefer E_S_S?)
People may have chosen Aragorn just because he is king already... but I didn't really think about him being king already, I thought of the things he has done as King, and what he was like, and what he did before he was a King; and based on that I decided he'd make a good President. Maybe there are other people on this thread that did this similarly? (Or maybe I'm just crazy. :-D )
I mean, just because he was destined to become a King doesn't necessarily mean he would make a good king.. he had to prove himself and establish certain foundations before he could become king don't you think? (Once again that is only my point of view, might not be correct..)

-.-" I'm turning his thread into a debate. Oops. I think I should stop talking.

Actually, I'd prefer if you called me Elwing, thanks :).

I think many people did exactly what you mentioned. Don't worry about turning this into a debate. Discussion can eventually lead to debate.

No worries, Culúrien. Even the most intelligent of us can forget the simplest things (that is in no way meant to insult you).

I think many of us are biased towards Aragorn because he was already a king. We don't know how capable he is, or any other character, for that matter. We do know, however, that Aragorn made for a fine king of Gondor.

Not only Gondor - Arnor too! :-D (At least, that's what I thought)

But if he made a good king of the Reunited Realms...don't you think he'd make a good President of Middle Earth?

I believe you're right, Culúrien.

Oh, I do. I have nothing against Aragorn whatsoever.
