An interesting debate indeed! I'm with Saira though, the Silmarillion would be a crazy cool film, but I don't think anyone but Ringer fans would be interested...*le sigh*

Well, personally I think they are the perfect pairing. It all goes back to Luthien and Beren [Luthien happens to be somehow related to Arwen which is why she share's the same fate].

I also think that the fact that Arwen see's through all the dirt and grime on Aragorn shows that she does not love him for his looks only. She see's him as a king, and speaking of him as a king...

I think the fact hat Arwen and Aragorn have 4 children proves that he had plenty of time for her.

Their story is one of true love and I don't think it should be changed. :)

aw, very true. I haven't gotten that far to ROTK yet *I've already read the series; this is my second time, and I'm enjoying them much* and I haven't read the appendices, but I thought AA were perfect for each other. :) *and the threadstarter's descriptions of A&A are based on the movie, not the books*

I think they made a great couple. They had loved eachother for ages but they never got to be together and at the end they could be with each other

Although in the book once they got married they only lived together for 6 years. Which is a bit of a waste of time as Arwen did give up her immortaility for him.

Whoa, really? I always thought they lived together for like over a hundred years or something.... Hmmmm

*Grabs copy of LotR and starts leafing through pages* Been too long since I last read through it...

But I'm pretty sure it was way more than 6 years... didn't their son Eldarion grow up and everything before Aragorn died of old age and Arwen went into the woods to die? *thinks*

EDIT: Aha, I found it in Appendix A. It says "...As Queen of Elves and Men she (Arwen) dwelt with Aragorn for six-score years in great glory and bliss..."

A score of years is twenty, right? So six-score is 120. :-D It looks like you just mis-read that bit, ArwenUndomiel54 ^^

ROFL!!!! Only we would actually look in our copy of the book and find out! Hilarious. Yes, i think it also mentions in the appendix that Aragorn is quite old before he passes away. I am not sure about when Arwen passed away. I think i read something that she died shortly after Aragorn, because their love was so strong, she could not bear living without him.

Exactly! If it were really well done and well promoted, lots of people would go see it. Show battles, show Valinor, show a little bit about the creation of Middle-Earth... if it's well done, even people with just a minor interest in LotR would probably go see it.

Are you resigned to the A/A fate Telpeath? After two years of reflection? :teehee:

I guess so. I still feel a little resentment, after my condition can never be cured. But i am not fully Anti-Aragorn. (he is better than anyone else. If not me, he was next in my book).

i think they are a perfect couple and you can see the true love they have for each other, it was funny at the end of return of the king because it looks like he was about to eat her face when he went to kiss her!!

^ hahaa that was a funny moment

But they are made for each other. Elves value love greatly and usually will only love once in their life . I think that theyre a great couple.

I agree I think Aragorn is great for her... I don't think anyone else would be better...
