What do I want to do?

Start my under graduate work early, be graduated with an education degree in sociology by 21, (which is entirely possible!), and teach Middle/High School history. I figure I won't get married until I'm established pretty well, and I want to do a lot of traveling before I settle down.

But I definitely want to have kids sooner rather then later; I don't want to be the mummy who's so old she can't keep up with her own children!

I want to be a part time authour and journalist. If I travel, family will really slow things down.

I definitely want to be established in the workplace before having children. Marriage might come before that, but children will have to wait. I think it'd be wonderful to be a stay-at-home mum, but I'm not sure if that will really be the path for me. Whatever I decide, I know that I do not want my children to end up in a child care centre while I'm at work.

^ Yeah, that would probably be my last choice. I would HATE to have my kids in a child care... probably part of that is because I want to homeschool them, but even if they were going to go to a real school I think I'd still want the same thing.

Lol. I think we're all feeling like that a bit. It's nice to talk about the future, but we've all got to remember to live in the present as well. :)

Well, I guess everyone sees it different. I don't mean to burst your bubble or anything but this day in age, people who marry at only 18 don't really last. People that young have to much other things to deal with a marriage wouldn't help any. At 18, I still had a whole year of high school left. But it is your choice and I cannot stop you. I am just putting my 2 cents in is all.

Well I don't think 21 is too young to get married and have kids, depending on the person and what they want in life. Not everyone has to go to college or university (like me). I mean, if our parents and grandparents managed to sustain jobs and have children at a young age, then I don't see why our generation can't do the same. Admittedly, we are living in completely different times now, and things are different to 30, 50 years ago. But still, I think that if you are committed to having a child, and you don't just have one because you unexpectedly became pregant, as opposed to purposely becoming so, I don't see anything wrong with that.

Well, me personally thinks it is. I suppose some people can manage marriage, kids and work at a young age but I'd never be able to. I'm 24 and don't think I could ever manage it. Sure, I'd like to be married some day but not in the near future. I still have things I wish to do before I think about settling down. I don't think I will have children though.

Honestly, I just don't know what I want. I really don't that far think ahead into the future. I'm just still at an age where I am just enjoying being single and just living life without being tied down by a man. I have never be in a relationship where I was being held back from doing what I want. Being single, I just feel free.

While that's true, I know a few couples that married at 18 and are still married and they're now in their thirties.

But I also agree with Nightingale. Were I ever to have children, I want to be married. I can't see myself getting married personally, but I don't know what God has for me...

Yeah, I know a lot of people today don't get married at 18. I think the guy should be older than 18, more just for finishing college and all of school and establishing a firm job... but we know a girl who had just turned 18 when she got married, he was 22, and everything worked out fine.
Like people have said, it really depends on the people.

Speaking of young marriage, I was just watching a show with a 16 year old girl that ran away to be with a 20 year old man in the Middle East that she met on Myspace. o_O Has anyone else heard about this?

I haven't but in regard to the other statements I think it definitely depends on the people; married and MATURE enough, then it's fine. Some people still couldn't raise kids at 22 and others make good parents at 18. It all depends.

So, there you go, my humble opinion.

What I found so disturbing about a 16-year-old running off with him was some of the things that he said and called her.

That, I agree with.

And sliiightly off-topic, does anyone think that it's weird for a high school girl to be dating/crushing on a younger guy (1 or 2 years younger)? Apparently some people find it strange...

What's strange about it? A girl dating a guy that is a couple years younger is not a big deal. My ex was a few years younger so I see nothing wrong. Well, okay we were both 18 and older so it doesn't really matter at that point. Just by looking at us, people would've never guessed that I was older one since I didn't look it.
